Senior Research Investigator
Research Investigator, Senior
Penn Cytomics is seeking a Senior Research Investigator to provide analytical flow cytometry expertise and consultative services to investigators using the facility. Knowledge of complex high-parameter flow cytometry instrumentation is required, with a minimum of 7-10 years of analytical flow cytometry and cell sorter experience. Experience with BD Biosciences platforms is preferred, but other platforms will be considered for the experienced candidate. Knowledge of cell sorting is required, including experience with biosafety policies/procedures, and experience sorting in a BSL2+ setting is preferred. This position also involves the continuation of ongoing, high-impact clinical/translational studies and collaborative experiments involving a wide array of investigators from multiple departments and institutions. Additional responsibilities include: providing consultative services, maintaining instrumentation, developing SOPs, and training users for independent cell sorting and analysis. Participation in continuing education in cytometry is expected. ASCP Specialist in Cytometry accreditation is desired, but support to obtain this qualification will be provided for the successful candidate.
The Senior Scientific Specialist will perform advanced analytical flow cytometry and cell sorting expertise in the Penn Cytomics and Cell Sorting Shared Resource Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. Principal duties include developing and completing translational research studies, providing consultative services, biohazardous cell sorting, and advanced training. Continuing education in the field of cytometry is expected, and the opportunity to present findings at the national and international level exists.
Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, or a related subject and 5-7 years of postdoctoral experience required, with at least 5 years of experience with high parameter cytometry and cell sorting. High-level proficiency with cell sorters, flow cytometers, and enhanced biosafety procedures is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. ASCP Specialist in Cytometry accreditation is preferred. Ability to speak multiple languages is preferred.
