
Full-time, fixed-term position through to 12 February 2027.
Base salary will be in the range $85,452 - $94,984 + 17% super (HEW Level 5).
Based primarily at our Ecosciences Precinct and secondarily at our St Lucia Campus
The Reef Catchments Science Partnership (RCSP) is a collaborative initiative between The University of Queensland and the Queensland Government, generating research and evidence to improve water quality outcomes for the Great Barrier Reef. Based within the School of the Environment, this opportunity will see you contribute to impactful monitoring, evaluation and research programs that bring together scientists, policymakers, industry and community stakeholders to create meaningful environmental change.
As a valued member of a supportive and purpose-driven team, you will provide specialist research and technical expertise across the Great Barrier Reef Catchment Loads Monitoring Program and associated RCSP initiatives.
This position is primarily based at the Ecosciences Precinct, Dutton Park, with secondary workspace at our St Lucia Campus.
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to
Assisting with research activities, including quality control coding and environmental data management.
Applying technical expertise to water quality monitoring, sampling and evaluation programs.
Maintaining, calibrating and troubleshooting scientific and technical equipment.
Preparing reports, figures, presentations and research outputs that support evidence-based decision making.
You are an organised and collaborative research professional who enjoys applying scientific knowledge to real-world environmental challenges.
A Bachelor of Science or Environmental Science.
Demonstrated practical research skills and experience in environmental monitoring and evaluation.
Experience using water quality monitoring equipment and environmental datasets, or the ability to quickly develop these capabilities.
Experience using R and/or Python for data manipulation and statistical analysis, or a willingness to develop these skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
A current Australian C-class Driver's Licence and willingness to undertake regional travel as required.
