  • A rare opportunity to contribute to a national initiative, developing a Teaching Performance Assessment for implementation across all Australian ITE institutions

  • HE07 Base salary $112,628 - $122,702 + 17% Superannuation (pro rata)

About the opportunity

The Assessment for Graduate Teaching (AfGT) is an approved Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) developed and implemented by a Consortium of Australian Higher Education providers that have Initial Teacher Education (ITE) faculties or schools.

Hosted by the University of Sydney the AfGT operations management team are seeking an experienced Senior Research Assistant.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Coordinate AfGT operations and moderation activities across the consortium, including workshops, assessor communications and online marking

  • manage ethics, jurisdictional and compliance processes, including submissions, reporting and continuous improvement in collaboration with the Ethics and Privacy Committee

  • oversee training and assessment processes, including E4 training, annual set‑up, moderation implementation and data collection

  • Deliver reporting and analysis, including ad‑hoc and annual reports, and work with quantitative RA/CEMA colleagues to implement a consortium‑wide moderation approach.

About you

You are an experienced and confident Senior Research Assistant who thrives in a fast paced, high trust environment and enjoys working closely with senior leaders. You are organised, collaborative and bring sound judgement to complex research and evaluation work. You bring:

  • Postgraduate qualifications (or progress toward) with substantial relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional practice

  • experience in educational research or evaluation, with the ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

  • strong analytical, data management and reporting skills, with confidence across qualitative and quantitative methods, including analysis, triangulation and interpretation.

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and delivery of high‑quality outputs to deadlines.

  • high levels of professionalism and technical capability, including advanced use of MS Office, survey platforms (e.g. Qualtrics), databases (e.g. Excel), and a strong commitment to confidentiality, ethics and privacy.
