Job Description

This role requires the candidate to work on-site in Australia.

Client Overview

Our client is an innovative renewable energy technology company specializing in the design, engineering, and deployment of advanced solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions. The organization focuses on delivering high-performance clean energy systems for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects across international markets.

With strong engineering capabilities and a commitment to sustainable energy development, the company manages end-to-end project delivery, including system design, engineering, technical consulting, grid integration, and project execution. As part of its continued international expansion, the company is strengthening its engineering team in Australia to support the growing demand for large-scale renewable energy projects.

Job Role

The Senior Renewable Energy Design Engineer is responsible for designing utility-scale and commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in accordance with Australian engineering standards and grid connection requirements.

Working closely with engineering, project delivery, construction, and external stakeholders, this role develops complete electrical and civil design packages, supports grid connection approvals, prepares technical documentation, and provides engineering support throughout project execution to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality renewable energy installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design utility-scale and commercial solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) systems, including electrical layouts, civil interfaces, grounding, protection, and grid connection.

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, technical calculations, equipment specifications, and construction documentation in compliance with Australian standards.

  • Perform load flow analysis, short-circuit calculations, cable sizing, grounding design, lightning protection, and reactive power compensation studies.

  • Coordinate grid connection applications and technical submissions with utilities, consultants, and regulatory authorities.

  • Prepare technical documentation, bill of materials (BOM), operation manuals, and engineering reports in English.

  • Support EPC bidding, permitting activities, and environmental documentation where required.

  • Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and project handover, including resolving design changes and technical issues.

  • Evaluate and select renewable energy equipment that complies with Australian certification and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, supply chain, and project delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Monitor updates to renewable energy regulations, Australian standards, and grid connection requirements to continuously improve engineering designs.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), or utility-scale renewable energy projects.

  • Strong understanding of photovoltaic systems, electrical distribution, grid connection, and renewable energy engineering principles.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst, ETAP (or equivalent power system analysis software), Microsoft Office, and related engineering tools.

  • Experience preparing engineering drawings, technical documentation, and construction packages.

  • Knowledge of Australian grid connection requirements, AS/NZS standards, and renewable energy regulations is highly preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Professional working proficiency in English.

  • Willing to work full-time on-site in Australia.
