Job Description

Mashreq UK is expanding its Corporate Banking platform and is seeking an experienced Senior Relationship Banker to lead coverage of UK corporate clients across a broad range of industries. The role is focused on origination, relationship ownership, and execution for complex corporate clients, working within a growing team and a bank with an increasing footprint in the UK market.

The successful candidate will bring a strong track record of managing senior corporate relationships, originating new business, structuring credit solutions, and driving cross‑sell across Mashreq’s full product suite. This is a senior, franchise‑building role with responsibility for revenue growth, portfolio quality, and team development.

Key Result Areas

Client Coverage & Origination

  • Own and manage a portfolio of UK corporate clients and prospects across diversified sectors (excluding Real Estate).

  • Drive new‑to‑bank origination, developing and executing well‑defined calling plans and opportunity pipelines.

  • Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with CFOs, Treasurers, Finance Directors, and other key decision‑makers.

  • Develop structured account plans to grow share of wallet and long‑term client relevance.

  • Position Mashreq as a trusted relationship bank with a clear value proposition in both lending and non‑lending products.

2. Product & Revenue Growth

  • Originate and grow revenues across:

    • Corporate lending (bilateral and syndicated)

    • Trade finance and structured working capital

    • FX and interest rate risk management (in partnership with Markets)

    • Deposits and balance sheet optimisation

  • Work closely with product partners to deliver integrated solutions aligned to client needs and risk appetite.

  • Ensure disciplined pricing, return metrics, and capital usage in line with bank targets.

3. Credit & Transaction Execution

  • Lead end‑to‑end execution of credit transactions, including:

    • Deal structuring and negotiation

    • Financial analysis, modelling, and cashflow assessment

    • Credit applications, annual reviews, amendments and waivers

    • Demonstrate strong credit judgement, balancing growth with prudent risk management.

    • Partner effectively with Credit, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations to ensure timely and high‑quality execution.

    • Actively monitor portfolio performance and proactively address emerging risks.

4. Governance, Risk & Controls

  • Ensure full compliance with UK regulatory requirements and internal bank policies, including:

    • KYC/AML onboarding and periodic reviews

    • Sanctions and reputational risk management

    • Client conduct and conflicts standards

  • Maintain high standards of documentation quality, audit readiness, and internal governance.

  • Contribute to portfolio reviews and risk discussions at management level.

5. Team Leadership & Contribution

  • Act as a senior member of the UK Corporate Banking team, setting standards for coverage quality, execution discipline, and client engagement.

  • Provide coaching and support to junior and mid‑level relationship bankers as required.

  • Share market intelligence and contribute to shaping coverage strategy as the platform scales.

Knowledge Skills and Experience

Experience

  • 12–18+ years of experience in corporate banking, with significant exposure to UK large corporates.

  • Proven track record in relationship management and origination within an international or UK‑regulated bank.

  • Demonstrated experience originating and executing complex corporate lending transactions.

  • Strong understanding of UK corporate credit, market structures, and competitive dynamics

  • Excellent financial analysis and credit structuring skills.

  • Commercial mindset with disciplined approach to pricing, profitability, and balance sheet usage.

  • Strong client presence and credibility at senior management level.

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and transactions concurrently.

  • Collaborative approach with strong internal partnership skills.

  • Leadership mindset with an interest in developing team capability

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Economics, Business or related discipline preferred). Professional qualifications (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CFA) advantageous but not essential.
