Job Description

The Senior Reimbursement Accounting Analyst will be responsible for preparing and analyzing Medicare and Medicaid cost report templates, inputting information into the cost report program, and ensuring proper costs are identified in specific departments and cost centers. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

· Prepare and maintain Medicare and Medicaid cost report workpapers, supporting schedules, and reimbursement analyses in accordance with federal and state regulatory requirements

· Compile, validate, and reconcile financial, statistical, labor, and census data utilized in cost report preparation and reimbursement reporting

· Analyze general ledger activity, trial balances, and supporting documentation to ensure accurate cost reporting treatment and proper allocation of expenses

· Perform detailed account analysis to identify reimbursement-related costs and ensure expenses are accurately assigned to the appropriate departments and cost centers

· Review cost reports and supporting schedules for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable reimbursement regulations and filing requirements

· Research and interpret Medicare, Medicaid, and state-specific reimbursement regulations and apply findings to complex reimbursement scenarios

· Respond to cost report audits by providing all documentation requested by the auditor, including

· invoices, journal entry backup, and other items as requested

· Interact with facility staff and PACS staff to obtain required documentation and any items identified in analyzing accounts

· Work independently and be deadline-oriented to complete assignments and meet required deadlines for filing cost reports and responding to auditors

· Train other team members on how to perform various cost reporting tasks

· Manage Medicare/Medicaid bad debt analysis for accounting, cost reporting, and audit purposes

· Reconcile general ledger accounts associated with cost reporting

· Understand how cost reports affect rate setting

Education and Experience

· Bachelor's degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, or a related field with 2-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including 6-8 years of relevant reimbursement, finance, or accounting experience

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel and Copilot enabled productivity tools

· Workday experience desired

· Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting requirements is preferred

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
