
Responsible for the overall nutritional care of patients. Plans, assesses, implements, and evaluates nutritional care plan of patients. Assists in management related tasks as directed. May assist team members with more complicated procedures and tasks.
Job Responsibility
1.May mentor and train team members.
2.Responsible for accurately and responsively performing varied and moderately complex to complex clinical tasks.
3.Requires minimal instruction on day-to- day work & general direction on more complex tasks and projects.
4.May assist team members with more complicated procedures and tasks.
5.Assists clinical team members and department or unit management in determining methods and procedures for new tasks.
6. Collaborates with senior team members to develop/validate methods, techniques & analytical approaches.
7.Interviews patient and/or family for nutritional history, obtains patient food preferences, assesses patients, and documents in patients’ medical record.
8.Guides and conducts assessments of documents in patients' medical records, according to hospital policies and procedures, and recommends nutrition care plans to medical staff for review and consideration.
9.Recommends and communicates therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians for patients, and ensures accuracy of diet order received by checking against physician’s order.
10.Provides nutritional guidance, education and counseling to patients and their families in accordance with the prescribed diet. Calculates nutrient content of tube feeding and dietary intakes as ordered by physicians.
11.Contributes to changes to the patient’s menu/nutritional analysis, including patient food preferences, the development of standardized recipes.
12.Prepares, presents, and conducts individual and group education classes, and refers clients to community services, as needed. Participates in and promotes Northwell wellness initiatives.
13.Develops and utilizes effective lines of communication regarding nutrition information within the program and community.
14.Guides and provides in-services to culinary, food service and interdisciplinary teams regarding therapeutic diets and related topics.
15.Participates in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement related tasks including data collection while executeing and making recommendations on new processes, tools and tasks related to it, as directed.
16.Assists and participates with regulatory compliance.

Job Qualification
Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience, required.
Current Registered Dietitian Certification with the Commissions on Dietetic Registration, required.
Certified Dietitian Nutritionist in New York State (CDN), as needed.
Advanced/specialized certifications, as needed.
3-5 years of relevant experience, required.
Oncology experience, highly preferred.
