Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Senior Registered Building Inspector, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £398.00 - £538.60 per day

The role is responsible for managing a portfolio of complex building control cases, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, the Building Act 1984, and relevant legislation. The Senior Registered Building Inspector will carry out plan assessments, site inspections, and provide professional advice to applicants, contractors, and stakeholders while supporting the delivery of a high-quality Building Control service.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of Class 2A–2E building control projects including plan assessments and site inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, the Building Act 1984, and related legislation.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to applicants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Investigate complaints, dangerous structures, and unauthorised works, initiating enforcement action where necessary.
  • Prepare evidence and represent the council in court or hearings when required.

Qualifications:

  • Level 5 qualification in Building Control or a related discipline.
  • Degree in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or a similar field (or equivalent experience).
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS, CABE, CIOB, or equivalent.

Essential Requirements:

  • Registered Building Inspector status (Class 2D–2E) with the Building Safety Regulator.
  • Extensive knowledge of Building Regulations, building construction, and relevant legislation.
  • Experience managing building control caseloads for Class 2A–2E projects.
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
