What you’ll be doing:

The Senior Manager of Fleet Safety is responsible for leading the strategy, development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards designed to positively influence safety within the transportation network. This role will communicate and partner closely with fleet leadership, executives, and the EHS team to build a best-in-class transportation safety program. Primary duties and responsibilities include serving as the Subject Matter Expert to standardize, harmonize and support execution of fleet safety and regulatory compliance programs. Key job responsibilities include:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of safety strategies that reduce injury risk and preventable collisions while advancing a culture of safety across the delivery fleet network.
  • Provide strategic leadership for OSHA, NFPA, and DOT/FMCSA compliance programs, driving driver qualification, safety training, engagement, collision reduction, and continuous improvement across the transportation network
  • Lead the analysis of CSA scores, fleet performance, and safety trends to develop initiatives that improve compliance, reduce risk, and enhance overall fleet safety performance
  • Maintain ability to transition between tactical, strategic, and technical levels rapidly
  • Identify new use cases for technology and automation in risk reduction campaigns
  • Review incident investigation quality and effectiveness
  • Provide weekly and monthly leadership update reports of fleet safety improvements, project status, and glidepath to strategic targets
  • Simplify, streamline, and automate business functions to eliminate waste
  • Apply knowledge of project management and lean six sigma methodology

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

  • • 10+ years of safety management or leadership experience in the transportation / delivery industry
  • • Extensive knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards and DOT 49 CFR FMCSA regulations, including experience implementing compliance programs within warehouse and transportation operations.
  • • Demonstrated experience developing and executing fleet safety strategies through the effective use of telematics technology (e.g., Samsara), analytics, coaching processes, and performance management to reduce preventable collisions and injuries.
  • • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical or regulatory requirements in a practical, actionable way across different levels of the organization.
  • • Ability to build partnerships with operations leaders and influence without authority
  • • Ability to analyze, define, diagnose, and resolve problems based on sound logic and rationale
  • • Experience with project management and lean six sigma methodology to drive continuous improvement
  • • Microsoft Office tools – PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or similar industry recognized certification preferred

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
