Senior Refrigeration Technician

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Refrigeration Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and reliability of refrigeration systems across a fleet of temperature-controlled commercial vehicles and equipment.

The successful candidate will perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and technical support for refrigeration systems while ensuring operational reliability, safety compliance, and high-quality service standards. This role also provides technical leadership, supports workshop quality assurance, and contributes to maintaining an efficient and safety focused maintenance operation.

The ideal candidate is technically advanced, proactive, detail oriented, and capable of working effectively in both workshop and field environments.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems
• Perform major and non-routine refrigeration repairs in both workshop and field environments
• Service refrigeration units on commercial vehicles and temperature-controlled equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control systems, and refrigeration components
• Perform refrigerant charging, evacuation, leak detection, and thermal management procedures
• Repair and maintain compressors, condensers, evaporators, and associated components
• Perform brazing, silver soldering, and welding as required
• Complete work orders, service reports, and parts documentation accurately and promptly
• Conduct quality inspections and verify repair effectiveness
• Reduce repeat failures and maximize equipment uptime

Leadership & Team Support

• Support technicians with advanced troubleshooting and technical guidance
• Assist with the coordination and distribution of repair activities
• Promote teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Recommend tools, equipment, and operational improvements

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards and company operating procedures
• Support operational risk management and safety initiatives
• Identify and report safety or equipment concerns

Qualifications & Experience

• Certification or diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology or a related technical discipline
• Minimum of five years' experience in commercial refrigeration repairs and maintenance
• Experience with transport refrigeration systems is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
• Valid driver's licence is an asset
