Why join Stryker?

Looking for a place that values your unique talents? Discover Stryker's award-winning culture.

Help bring new medical devices to market by developing innovative packaging for Stryker’s Trauma and Extremities portfolio. As a Senior R&D Packaging Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn user needs into packaging solutions, from concept through validation and product launch. Join an expanding team at a time of packaging transformation, with the opportunity to shape new product development and contribute to packaging innovation.

We are looking for a Senior R&D Packaging Engineer to support our Trauma and Extremities division. This is a hybrid role that requires at least two days per week on site at either our Montbonnot-Saint-Martin (38), France, or Cork, Ireland, location.

This position is offered on an 18-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension depending on the company’s needs.

Who we want

  • Collaborative partners. People who build and leverage cross-functional relationships to bring together ideas, data, and insights that drive continuous improvement across functions.
  • Dedicated achievers. People who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to completing projects that meet regulatory requirements and expectations.

What you will do

As a Senior Packaging Engineer, you will design packaging and actively participate in—and sometimes lead—cross-functional teams to advance assigned projects through packaging design and development to product launch.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Integrating new products into Stryker’s Trauma & Extremities packaging systems following company acquisitions.
  • Developing innovative packaging for new products in line with user needs and current packaging design and development procedures.
  • Developing prototypes for design verification and validation.
  • Working with clinical advisors to gather input on the design and evaluation of new packaging.
  • Applying and managing design controls.
  • Writing technical reports.
  • Actively participating in—and at times leading—cross-functional design teams to develop new packaging, address design issues, and maintain existing packaging.
  • Applying knowledge of all aspects of the surgical procedure to develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Developing and managing project plans and timelines in accordance with design control guidelines.

What you will need

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, mechanical/biomechanical engineering, quality management, or manufacturing engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in packaging engineering or biomechanical laboratory testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives from concept through release.
  • Business-level fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in the medical device industry or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience working with sterile packaging in accordance with ISO 11607-1.
  • Ability to work on multiple subtasks in parallel.
  • Ability to make complex decisions with guidance.
  • Ability to multitask and to think on your feet.
  • Team player with strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

What we offer

  • Flat hierarchies and responsibility. Through flat hierarchies, we strengthen the initiative and willingness of our employees to take over responsible tasks.
  • We grow talent. At Stryker we offer great personal and internal career development for our employees, with the possibility to make both vertical and lateral position movement.
  • Team spirit & engagement. We create engaged and inclusive teams that encourage colleagues to share their diverse perspectives and opinions.
  • Competitive salary and Benefits. With us, you will receive a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with your job.
  • Recognition of your performance. At our company, outstanding individual and cross-functional team performance is rewarded. Ideas, projects, or other exceptional achievements can be submitted for various awards on a local and global level.
