Job Description

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work with our team in Cork. Murphy Cork offices will be the primary location the role will be based, with site visits to live projects in the Munster region as and when required.

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare bottom‑up forecasts at contract award stage.
  • Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Draft supply chain ITTs and terms of engagement.
  • Ensure accurate month‑end cost records and project accruals.
  • Maintain Cost‑to‑Complete and Risk Registers.
  • Prepare monthly CVRs and other required project reports.
  • Maximise cash position, including WIP control and cash‑flow planning.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
  • Lead cost control and cost‑mitigation activities.
  • Measure quantities in line with standard methods of measurement.
  • Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full supporting documentation.
  • Administer contracts, manage change, and maintain commercial registers.
  • Manage subcontractor/supplier accounts through to final agreement.

Qualifications, experience & skills:

  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics (RICS Accredited).
  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor or working toward same.
  • Full driving license.
  • Commercially astute with substantial experience within a commercial role in the civil engineering / construction industry.
  • Working experience in the use of contracts such as NEC, FIDIC and Public Works Contracts.
  • Familiar with delivering civils engineering, mechanical and electrical or utilities projects.
  • Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
  • Understanding of programming techniques, project controls, risk analysis, contract admin, procurement, cost, claims.
  • 5+ years Experience.
