Join us to make a positive impact on the environment and our communities, while being valued and supported in a truly inclusive workplace.
If you want to do more, because you care, we want you on our team.
As our Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll provide commercial leadership across our Clean Water Capital Investment Programme, managing a portfolio of projects typically valued from £2 million to £25 million. From procurement and negotiation through to delivery and final account, you’ll control costs, manage commercial risk and help secure strong outcomes for our customers and communities.
You’ll be based at Raynesway in Derby, with travel to project sites, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
You’ll join a caring culture that collaborates to achieve, grow, and develop. Our employee engagement scores are among the highest globally in energy and utilities. That’s why we value in-person moments to keep our culture alive, but also understand the flexibility working from home can bring. You’ll usually find us in the office, but working from home is supported when you need it.
You’ll be an experienced quantity surveyor or commercial professional with senior-level experience in utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering or another regulated capital-delivery environment. You’ll have experience managing multiple projects through their commercial lifecycle, including procurement, tendering, cost control, forecasting, change, claims and final accounts.
You’ll bring working knowledge of NEC contracts, strong analytical and Excel skills and confidence influencing stakeholders and supply-chain partners. A relevant degree or equivalent experience is required, while professional membership of, or progress towards, RICS, CICES or another relevant body is desirable.
Skills and experience are important, but character, positivity, and a caring attitude matter too. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality, as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We’re looking for people who want to get involved, be part of something bigger, and make a difference because they care.
It’s not just a job; it’s a career. We offer benefits that reward great work and awardwinning training to help you reach your potential. You’ll also contribute to the environment and community. Some of our benefits include:

Water is wonderful. Without it we’d be lost. With it, everything’s possible. For every toothbrush, for every loo flushed. For the hot showers, the cool drinks, the cups of tea. But it’s not just at the heart of our homes. It’s at the heart of everything; our schools, our businesses, our hospitals. Saving lives, helping communities thrive.
We’re Severn Trent, a diverse and amazing group of people who want to keep it that way. We bring you clean water and we take it away safely too. But it’s not just what we do. It’s how we do it: not just talking, but going over and above. Stepping up and rolling our sleeves up.
It’s because we care. Not only about our water but our corner of the country. And we care for our amazing people who make all this possible. Don’t just take our word for it; we’re a Glassdoor Top 50 Company – one of the best employers in the UK right now.
At Severn Trent, we do more, because we care.
