We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Quantitative Financial Modeler to join our Investment Risk Team in Newport Beach, CA. This position requires in-office attendance at least four days/week.

Howyou’llhelp move us forward

The candidate will advance the organization’s ability to develop economic scenarios within a production level system,validateresults, to support the valuation of complex assets andliabilitiesand risk reporting. Applications will span market consistent valuation, real-world, pricing, and regulatory mandates arising under GAAP, STAT, BMA, and Economic frameworks.Additionalresponsibilities will involve asset modeling in support of investment team, capital projection/optimization, pricing, and risk management.In this capacity, the candidate is expected to develop economic models, production levelsystems,  strongcontrols and governance and insights that can support the execution of:

  • Pacific Life Risk Management’sdevelopment, governance, and delivery of scenarios throughout the enterprise

  • Production level code developmentto allowautomated production and delivery of scenarios with database integration and scalability.

  • Providing insights and support to stakeholders onscenario development, rationale, and output

  • Modeling experience in stochastic scenarios for market-consistent valuation,real-world projection,and regulatory applications across domestic and foreign currencies.

  • Strong ability in modeling complex economic processes for interest rates, equity returns, volatility, inflation, and credit spreads across multiple countries.

The candidate will work in a matrix environment with other quants, accounting leaders, and investment professionals.  The candidate will drive business outcomes, have leadership attributes, and have the aptitude to transform concepts into actionable quant models.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished professional with experience from world-class financial services organizations.

  • The candidatemust have first-hand, in-depth knowledge ofeconomic scenario modeling for valuation and regulatory processes, experience in process automation, strong governancereportingandabilityto workand explain resultswith investment professionals and related stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, andmaintainproduction gradequantitative codebases for largescalestochastic simulation, including performance optimization, testing, version control, and reproducibility suitable for valuation,regulatory use, and audit.

  • Experience withEconomic Capital,Asset Liability Management (ALM),and Regulatory capitaleconomic scenario applications.

  • Knowledge and experience infinancialmodelingapplied to asset modeling and investment risk

Whatmakes youstand out

  • 5-7+years of direct experiencein scenario development and modeling, production coding, and execution with some experience in asset modeling such as commercial real estate, corporate bonds, or alternative equities

  • MFE, Masters,or PhD degree in a quantitative area such as Finance, Math, Engineering, or related fieldCFA/FRM designationa plus

  • Demonstratedexperiencecoding in languages such as MATLAB, Python, SAS, R, etc., including production processautomation

  • Demonstrated experience with Snowflake databases.

  • Demonstrated experience with investment analytical systems such asMoody’s Analytics,Conning,Bloomberg, CoStar,RiskSpan, FactSet, Aladdin, CoStar, Trepp, etc.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$167,670.00 - $204,930.00
