Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Senior Quantitative Analyst, Markets

What’s the role?

You’ll join Westpac’s Markets Model Risk team, where your work helps ensure the models used across Financial Markets, Risk and Treasury are robust, well‑understood and fit for purpose. In this role, you’ll independently assess valuation, risk and capital models across trading and banking books, covering interest rates, foreign exchange and commodities.

You’ll partner closely with a wide range of stakeholders, contributing to critical projects and clearly explaining complex modelling outcomes to senior leaders. Your work will support sound decision‑making and strong risk management across the Group, while giving you exposure to a broad range of products and market activity.

This is a permanent role based in Sydney, offering the chance to apply your technical expertise in a collaborative, high‑performing environment where quality and curiosity are valued.

What do I need?

You’ll bring strong quantitative capability and a practical mindset. To be successful, you’ll need:

  • At least 4-5 years experience assessing or working with financial markets valuation, risk or capital models.
  • A solid understanding of models related to interest rate, FX and derivative products.
  • The confidence to challenge models and assumptions constructively.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics simply.
  • Programming experience in languages such as C++, R or similar.
  • A tertiary qualification in a quantitative discipline
