Join our team! EJ is currently hiring for a Senior Quality Engineer at our Water Products Facility, in East Jordan, MI We are looking for someone with a passion for our products as well as quality and excellence, who thrives in a team environment focused on continuous improvement.

Since the 1920s, we’ve been supplying communities with fire hydrants and other water distribution solutions and our commitment to maintaining interchangeability has allowed us to seamlessly integrate new products with our older ones. Our water management & distribution solutions are supported by a commitment to customer service and satisfaction. Products include fire hydrants, resilient wedge gate valves, valve boxes, meter boxes, and cleanout & monument boxes.

The Senior Quality Engineer ensures products and processes meet quality standards by developing and implementing quality control systems, monitoring production, conducting tests, analyzing data for defects, and creating solutions to improve processes. They conduct audits, analyze root causes of failures, ensure regulatory compliance, and train staff to maintain high quality in products and services. This role has the potential for growth and development into a future manager position for the successful candidate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop & Implement Quality Standards: Create, maintain, and improve quality standards and implement quality control processes and systems.
  • Monitoring & Testing: Monitor manufacturing processes and test materials, equipment, and final products to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze quality data, identify trends, generate reports on malfunctions, and conduct root cause analyses for defective products.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in production processes and implement solutions to enhance product quality and reliability.
  • Auditing & Compliance: Conduct quality audits of processes and products and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with engineering, production, and management teams to address quality issues and implement solutions.
  • Documentation & Training: Create and maintain quality assurance documentation, standard operating procedures, and provide training to staff on quality control procedures.
  • Promotes the culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company This includes adherence to and promotion of the company safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 4+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean, ISO 9001, FMEA, and control plans preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Machining or manufacturing experience preferred
