Hyosung HICO is seeking to fill a Senior Quality Engineer. The ideal candidate will perform Quality system operation and inspection of power transformers for ensuring Power Transformer products and services meet the requirements of industry standards, customer and company specifications while maintaining highest quality and complete customer satisfaction.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Lead the internal audit program, inspection/test, and supplier audit process according to the QA program. If necessary, issue NCR/CAR on non-conformities.
  • Lead and guide ongoing process improvement activities. Assess quality trends, employ root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective action to improve overall effectiveness of the QA program and final product.
  • Ensure that assembly and inspection/test data is properly collected, reviewed, archived and submitted to customers as required.
  • Plan and administer environmental, operational, or performance inspection/test on products & system.
  • Coordinate and direct engineering activities concerned with the development, procurement and calibration of instruments, equipment, and control devices required for inspection/test.
  • Review customer specification and implement appropriate inspection/testing to meet the customers’ requirements utilizing applicable quality assurance and manufacturing department procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret, drawings, manuals or other information required to determine specifications, inspections procedures, testing requirements and certification methods.
  • Confer with engineering, and technical personnel to resolve manufacturing and testing problems, such as product or systems malfunctions, manufacturing defects, supplier related nonconformances, and incomplete test data
  • Provide work leadership and train junior quality engineers and quality inspectors. Teach equipment setup, connections, principles of operation, maintenance, and diagnostics.
  • Promote a culture of process control and quality excellence by providing effective leadership for problem solving, failure investigations, and implementing appropriate countermeasures.
  • Perform assessments and make recommendations for the purchase of additional in-process, electrical testing equipment. Manage capital projects for equipment as necessary
  • Interact with customers and serve as the liaison between the HICO sales group and HICO customers for NCR items and discussions
  • Lead root cause corrective action (CAR) teams and apply the correct problem solving methodologies to ensure quality improvements within products and processes
  • Lead and provide guidance to the organization in the implementation and maintaining of compliance to the ISO 9001 program. Provide training to the organization as needed within the ISO standard requirements
  • Plan and lead MRB meetings as necessary in order to obtain disposition consensus of nonconforming items
  • Know Hyosung Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and their impact in the workplace.

  • Create calibration plans for tools and test equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of ongoing business activities which include but are not limited to: the ISO-9001 program, daily and routine manufacturing and QC inspection issues, and lean manufacturing initiatives, internal audits, customer and supplier visits or field assessments, testing issues or general QA/QC procedural
  • Plan and lead with on-the-job training

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree with a minimum 6 years of experience in quality assurance or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Department
  • Advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate with employees, customers and vendors.
