
Provide strategic leadership and governance of the Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure effective safety risk management across all airport operations. The role is responsible for defining SMS strategy, overseeing implementation and performance, and fostering a positive safety culture in alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory expectations.
Promote and implement a "Just Culture" framework that encourages open safety reporting while maintaining clear accountability standards
Lead and oversee the overall SMS framework, policies, and strategic objectives.
Define SMS governance, roles, responsibilities, and reporting structures across the organization.
Act as the highest authority for safety risk management and SMS-related escalation matters.
Ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement of SMS processes and practices.
Oversee hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety assurance activities across all operational areas.
Review safety performance indicators, trend analyses, and risk reports, and direct corrective actions.
Ensure coordination between SMS, IMS, AOCC, Airside Operations, Terminal Operations, and ARFF.
Chair or participate in safety committees, management reviews, and safety governance forums.
Provide expert safety advice and recommendations to senior management and executive leadership.
Ensure effective safety communication, awareness, and promotion of safety culture initiatives.
Oversee internal SMS audits, assessments, and management reviews.
Coordinate with regulators and external stakeholders on SMS-related matters as required.
Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and record keeping of SMS activities.
Perform additional duties assigned by executive management within the scope of SMS leadership.
Advanced knowledge of Emergency Response Planning (ERP) and its integration with the Safety Management System.
In-depth knowledge of Safety Management System principles and aviation safety practices.
Strong understanding of safety governance, risk management, and performance monitoring.
Ability to analyze complex safety data and translate it into strategic decisions.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Minimum 10–12 years of experience in aviation safety, safety management systems, or operational risk management.
At least 5 years of experience in a senior managerial or leadership role.
