🚀 About the role

We are hiring a QA Engineer in Tokyo to support one of our most strategic global key accounts in the retail sector.

In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and reliability of software releases across a global network of automated warehouses.

You will work at the intersection of:

• Quality Engineering
• Release Management
• Customer Collaboration

This is not a traditional QA role, you will act as a QA and test strategy owner for a global program, with strong ownership over testing, environments, and release quality.

Your mission

🧪 Testing strategy & execution

• Design and execute integration (WMS) and non-regression test plans
• Ensure all tests are validated internally before customer sessions
• Standardize testing practices across multiple sites

🖥️ Digital twin & environments

• Set up and maintain pre-production (digital twin) environments
• Ensure environments are stable, ready, and representative of real operations
• Troubleshoot issues impacting test readiness

🔄 Release quality & governance

• Act as a quality gatekeeper before software releases
• Ensure:
• Clear and actionable release notes
• Proper risk assessment
• Version control discipline
• Prevent defects from reaching production

🤝 Customer collaboration

• Coordinate testing schedules and environments with the client’s IT teams (Japan-based)
• Execute tests jointly with stakeholders
• Deliver clear, structured validation reports

🌐 Cross-team collaboration

• Work closely with Deploy, Maintenance, and Product QA teams
• Align with internal QA and automation practices
• Act as the single point of contact for QA on the program

🔧 Technical skills

• Experience in software testing, QA, or release engineering
• Comfortable with:
• APIs (REST), databases
• Linux, Git, Docker
• Ability to analyze logs, debug, and understand complex systems

Nice to have:

• Test automation / CI pipelines
• Performance testing (JMeter, Grafana)
• Programming (Python, JavaScript, Java)
• System integration / networking knowledge

💼 Professional skills

• Strong ownership and accountability
• Structured, rigorous, and detail-oriented
• Clear communication and reporting skills
• Comfortable working with customers and international teams

🌍 Languages

• English: mandatory
• Japanese: strongly preferred
