Develops IT Solutions. Leverage Agile and DevOps practices to build their IT solutions. They understand the business value their IT Solutions deliver. They understand how to develop on multiple development platforms (i.e. MS Azure, AWS, Salesforce, Web). They work in small Development Teams owning the Sprint Backlogs. They continuously look for opportunities to create more efficient DevOps processes leveraging automation, new (ARB approved) tools, and exploring new development platforms together with DevOps Engineers. They work hand-in-hand with Operations Engineers to improve flow between Development and Operations to deliver value faster.

Join us as a Senior QA Engineer and play a crucial role in elevating the quality of our software products. You will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive testing frameworks, establishing best practices for quality assurance, and rolling out these standards across various development teams to ensure consistent high-quality deliverables.

Your team

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you'll be an integral part of our dynamic development team within GBS People Services. Our organization fosters collaboration and innovation, and you'll work closely with developers and product owners

How success looks like

  • Successfully design and implement robust testing frameworks that meet the needs of diverse projects.
  • Establish and champion clear, actionable testing standards and processes across multiple development teams.
  • Drive the adoption and effective use of testing frameworks and standards, leading to measurable improvements in product quality.
  • Mentor and guide other team members on testing best practices and framework utilization.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Framework Design & Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient testing frameworks for both functional and non-functional testing (e.g., performance, security).
  • Standard Setting: Define and document quality assurance standards, methodologies, and best practices to be adopted across multiple development teams in the organization.
  • Rollout & Training: Lead the rollout and implementation of testing frameworks and standards across various product and development teams, providing training and ongoing support.
  • Test Strategy: Develop comprehensive test strategies for complex systems, ensuring adequate test coverage and identification of critical defects. This includes unit, component, integration, and regression testing. In addition, plan and execute disaster recovery testing across all services.
  • Automation: Drive the adoption and development of test automation solutions within the established frameworks.
  • CI/CD Improvements: Build out deployment pipelines with improved integrated and automated testing to provide resilience to systems being updated.
  • Tooling & Evaluation: Evaluate, recommend, and integrate new QA tools and technologies to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness. Stay up to date with new and existing technologies to provide recommendations to leadership on which tools to adopt.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously analyze and improve existing QA processes and workflows to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, product managers, and other QA engineers to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Reporting: Establish and maintain metrics for tracking quality, providing regular reports on test progress, defect trends, and overall product quality.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to developers on testing best practices and framework usage.

Job Qualifications

Hard Skills:

  • Experience: Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field, along with 5+ years of experience in Software Testing or Software Development, with a strong focus on framework development and process improvement.
  • Testing Frameworks: Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress for UI; Postman, JUnit, Pytest for unit/integration, etc.).
  • Test Automation: Extensive experience with test automation strategies, tools, and best practices across different layers of the application stack.
  • QA Methodologies: Deep understanding of various QA methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
  • Programming: Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for test automation (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C#). Python specifically is a plus.
  • Cloud Testing: Experience with testing applications deployed on cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • CI/CD Integration: Experience integrating testing frameworks into CI/CD pipelines. Github Actions specifically is a plus.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, influence teams, and drive change within an organization.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify complex issues and propose effective solutions.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills to engage multiple stakeholders regarding technical opportunities and risks.
  • Proactive problem solver with ability to coordinate between technical and business teams.
  • Collaborative leadership style focused on vendor and team alignment.
