About the role
The Senior QA Engineer will design and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test strategies for backend (Go), frontend, mobile, and IoT systems. Reporting to the QA Lead, this role will develop and maintain automated testing frameworks, conduct functional, regression, performance, security, and reliability testing across AWS-hosted services, and champion shift-left testing practices across the engineering team
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test strategies for backend (Go), frontend, mobile, and IoT systems.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and scripts to support continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Conduct functional, regression, performance, security, and reliability testing across AWS-hosted services and applications.
  • Collaborate with software developers to identify, document, and track defects through to resolution, ensuring root cause analysis is performed.
  • Champion shift-left testing practices by integrating quality assurance early in the software development lifecycle.
  • Define and monitor quality metrics and KPIs, contributing to reporting dashboards that track software quality over time.
  • Perform API testing, load testing, and end-to-end testing to validate system behaviour under various conditions.
  • Review technical requirements and design documents to provide early feedback on testability and potential quality risks.
  • Evaluate and recommend new QA tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers, fostering a culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement across the engineering team.
  • Support release management processes, including regression testing, release sign-off, and post-deployment validation.
Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with demonstrated seniority in test strategy and automation.
  • Strong experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, GoTest).
  • Experience testing cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with API testing, load testing, and security testing tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with Go, or demonstrated willingness to develop testing expertise in Go.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience testing IoT systems and device firmware.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch).
  • ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience mentoring team members.
