Job Description

Senior QA Automation Engineer

Department: Engineering

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Kyiv, Dnipro

Description

Techery is a digital product studio founded in 2013. We help non-tech companies grow through digital transformation, AI solutions, and product development.

Our team works with global clients like Plexus, BuzzFeed, The Orchard, and Lufthansa, delivering impactful software with a strong focus on ownership, transparency, and long-term value.

We're building an international e-commerce platform for a client in the multi-level marketing (MLM) industry.

The platform supports sales of dietary supplements and wellness products in 30+ countries and includes:

  • Standard e-commerce functionality
  • A custom "Virtual Office" module for tracking MLM bonuses and user activity
  • Full localization and regional support

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement QA strategy across the project
  • Design and optimize testing approaches and processes
  • Maintain and improve existing QA workflows
  • Build and maintain agentic workflows for authoring and maintaining Playwright tests — prompts, context, guardrails, review loops
  • Evolve and maintain the existing TypeScript / Playwright-based AQA framework
  • Coordinate the work of QA engineers
  • Set goals for the team and grow the team structure toward them
  • Mentor team members toward becoming automation engineers
  • Collaborate with other teams on company-wide AI transformation initiatives
  • Sharing automation practices across projects
  • Communicate with clients on quality-related matters

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 3+ years of hands-on programming in any modern language (TypeScript / JavaScript, Kotlin, Python) — we care about engineering depth, not a specific stack
  • Solid grasp of a static type system and how to use it for robust, self-documenting code
  • Confident with asynchronous programming (async/await, promises/futures, concurrency) as it applies to tests
  • Willing and able to work in a TypeScript / Node.js codebase
  • 2+ years of experience writing stable E2E and integration tests (Playwright, or a comparable modern E2E tool with readiness to switch)
  • Experience with parallel test execution, configuring environments, and using fixtures
  • Skilled in debugging tests using Playwright tools (e.g. trace viewer, debug mode)
  • 3+ years of experience, including building test frameworks from scratch or major refactoring and architectural improvements
  • Deep knowledge and practical application of design patterns in automation, especially Page Object Model (POM), Fixture, Lazy Initialization, and Steps
  • Practical experience using coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar) as part of the daily engineering loop, not as a demo
  • Ability to design agentic workflows: decompose a task for an agent, supply the right context, set guardrails, and verify the output
  • Context engineering for a codebase — project rules/instructions files, skills, reusable prompts, MCP or tool integrations
  • Sober judgement on where AI helps and where it does not: review of generated tests, flakiness and hallucination control, cost/benefit of automation
  • Experience working with React codebase to add or consult on adding stable test attributes (e.g. data-testid)
  • Ability to read and understand Node.js code to write accurate API tests and analyze backend logic

About Techery

Techery is a top software consultancy helping businesses achieve real technological modernization.

Our customers realize that the map is being changed and they need more advanced tools to execute their strategies.

Unlike many other digital companies Techery not only knows HOW to write code, but also knows WHAT to write and WHEN to write it. We are one of the few technology companies that won't ask questions like:

- "Now please tell us about your business"

- "So what do you want to build?"

- "OK, do you have requirements for the software you have in mind?"

Instead we will ask questions like:

- "So what's on your mind? You go first and then we'll share what we were thinking as well"

- "Is that true that your biggest challenge tomorrow is gonna be XXXXX?"

- "What are ready to say NO to today in order to get what you want tomorrow?"

Of course, like everyone else we have some big names up our sleeve, but there's no point in trying to impress anyone with them. However, our concept of working with large companies is different. We only work with them to deliver something truly groundbreaking that will eventually impact their entire business, like it was with Xerox and the CloudPrinting platform we had built.

We do love smaller companies more though. Better communication, less BS, straight goals, clear metrics. And that's understandable. Every big company is trying to make it look like it's small and to operate like it's small. We can help with that too.

We prefer personal meetings to endless chains of emails.

Added value to process following.

Innovation to Stagnation and Status Quo.

Reach out today and we promise we're gonna have a great time.

(and if our first meeting doesn't work out – at least we'll both enjoy our delicious dinner and interesting conversation! It's on us.)
