Ciklum is looking for a Senior Python Engineer to join our team full-time in Ukraine.

About the role:

As a Senior Python Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. We are looking for a Senior Python Developer to build the backend and data-processing capabilities of Pathfinder - a complex, data-heavy web application for strategic roadmapping and portfolio planning. The role is with a focus on backend engineering, data processing, APIs, performance and scalability.

Responsibilities:

• Work with AWS infrastructure and cloud services
• Implement appropriate caching, queuing, batch processing and optimisation where required
• Write clean, testable and maintainable code with strong automated test coverage
• Investigate and resolve complex technical and performance issues
• Work closely with the Solution Architect, AQA, Manual QA and Front-end developers
• Design solutions with performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability in mind
• Build what is needed rather than over-engineering
• Consider cost, performance and development effort when making technical decisions
• Challenge unnecessary complexity and look for pragmatic solutions
• Comfortable working in a lean, fast-moving, start-up-like environment with evolving requirements

Requirements:

• Strong commercial experience with Python and modern Python frameworks
• Design and develop robust, scalable backend services and APIs
• Build efficient solutions for large-scale data processing, transformation and aggregation
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including query optimisation and data modelling
• Experience with REST APIs, service integration and asynchronous/background processing
• Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering principles, not use framework-level development
• Able to analyse technical problems and choose the most appropriate solution
• Comfortable working with complex data models and business logic
• Strong focus on performance and efficiency, particularly when processing arge datasets
• Understands the trade-offs between simplicity, scalability and maintainability
