Join our Downstream Process Department at our Nottingham site.
We are looking for a Senior Purification Scientist for the Downstream Process Development (DSP) department at Sartorius Albumedix Limited. In this role, you will carry out hands on activities related to protein purification and subsequent analytics, as well as method development, troubleshooting on a small scale, data analysis and research into new products and technology.
The DSP team consists of five other scientists, working in a wider group of 23 and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you.
This position is full-time on a permanent basis. It is an onsite role in central Nottingham and the site is easy to get to, being a short walk from the train station and tram stop.
Grow with us – Your Responsibilities
Perform protein purification studies at laboratory scale leading to the development and implementation of new products and process improvements.
Support CAPP manufacturing troubleshooting and optimization studies through albumin purification and characterization studies, and management of their implementation at large scale
Provide analytical characterization support to generate recombinant protein products for enhanced service projects and application areas
In – depth knowledge of protein purification techniques and ability to review relevant state – of – the art knowledge for business potential and translate into project and existing product/technology areas
Independently plan and complete research projects as directed by managers, assist in the development of action plans and research strategies, prepare data summaries and reports
Responsible for recommending improvements in methodology or experimental design
Extensive inter – departmental interactions, represent department in cross – functional project teams, publish in peer reviewed journals
Coordinate and build relationships with internal and external collaborators
Expand in their field of expertise with external development
Train and mentor junior team members
Maintain up to date records and laboratory notebooks
Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by implementation of EH&S policies
What will convince us
Experience in chromatographic techniques, including use of ӒKTA systems routinely
MSc in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or related discipline and a minimum of 8 years relevant industrial experience working in protein purification
Experience in analytical characterization of proteins is strongly desired
Innovative and analytical thinker, able to solve complex problems utilizing DOE (design of experiment), method development and troubleshooting
Good communication and written skills and strong attention to detail
Team player, ability to interact with people across different functions internally, whilst being comfortable working independently
Good problem-solving skills
Highly organized and ability to multitask
