Senior Purchasing Manager, Non-Food

The Senior Purchasing Manager, Non-Food is responsible for leading the non-food procurement activities across Eataly North America for retail stores and ecommerce operations. This role oversees sourcing, vendor and product selection, pricing negotiations, inventory planning, and category strategy for Home & Kitchen, tabletop, culinary lifestyle, gifting, and related non-food product lines. The Senior Purchasing Manager ensures that all purchasing decisions reflect Eataly’s commitment to quality, authenticity, and value, while optimizing costs, strengthening supplier relationships, and supporting business growth across new and existing stores. Reports to the Vice President of Merchandizing.

  • Oversees end-to-end procurement of all non-food categories, ensuring optimal product mix, pricing, and quality to support Eataly’s retail and ecommerce standards.
  • Leads non-food category strategy, including product selection, seasonal planning, SKU rationalization, margin optimization, and supplier performance management.
  • Develops and manages relationships with domestic and international suppliers, distributors, importers, and brand partners, with a strong focus on Italian and specialty vendors.
  • Leads purchasing activities by creating sourcing strategies, managing vendor and distributor relationships, and negotiating contracts, pricing, payment terms, and margin targets to drive cost savings and sustainable partnerships.
  • Conducts ongoing market research and competitive analysis on Home & Kitchen, tabletop, gifting, and culinary lifestyle trends to maintain a dynamic and commercially relevant assortment.
  • Collaborates closely with Store Operations, Ecommerce, Marketing, Finance, Visual Merchandising, and Demand Planning teams to forecast demand, plan assortments, and support execution across channels.
  • Partners with Italian buying teams and suppliers to scout and introduce new products, maintain authenticity standards, and support Eataly’s brand positioning.
  • Supports new store openings by establishing non-food assortment plans, coordinating procurement and distribution needs, and supporting merchandising execution.
  • Oversees inventory planning and replenishment strategies, partnering with Finance and Business Analyst teams to ensure product availability while minimizing excess inventory and markdown exposure.
  • Works with Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Logistics teams to ensure timely distribution, operational compliance, and efficient inventory flow.
  • Monitors and maintains clear purchasing controls aligned with Eataly’s financial, operational, and audit requirements.
  • Reviews financial data, budgets, forecasts, inventory turnover, and category performance metrics to support profitability and cost management goals.
  • Supports capital and operational planning for non-food programs across stores and ecommerce channels.
  • Reviews and evaluates supplier performance based on cost, quality, service, delivery, and reliability.
  • Prepares business reviews, reporting, and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Leads and participates in cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment on category strategy, promotional initiatives, and operational priorities.
  • Leads and develops a small purchasing team focused on replenishment, pricing accuracy, vendor onboarding, inventory management, and operational compliance.
  • Monitors supply chain risks, freight impacts, and sustainability opportunities within non-food categories.
  • Provides on-site support as needed for store openings, vendor demonstrations, events, or category-related initiatives, including relevant national and international trade shows.
  • Performs other duties and special projects related to category growth, procurement strategy, ecommerce expansion, or store development.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, purchasing, procurement, or category management; retail, hospitality, home goods, specialty food, or multi-unit operations experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise managing Home & Kitchen, tabletop, culinary lifestyle, gifting, or related non-food product categories.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, margins, inventory performance, and complex vendor relationships.
  • Experience leading small teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting analysis; PowerPoint proficiency preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP, sourcing, or inventory management systems such as D365, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
  • Passion for Italian culture, hospitality, culinary products, and premium retail experiences strongly preferred.

Annual Compensation: $110,000 - $120,000
