Industry Focus: Semiconductor / Electronics
We are seeking an experienced Commercial & Project Buyer with strong background in the semiconductor and electronics industry to represent our commercial interests in development projects and drive supplier strategy within the Home Comfort Division.
This hybrid role combines project purchasing, strategic sourcing, and semiconductor supply chain expertise, ensuring successful new product introduction (NPI) and long-term cost competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Project Purchasing & NPI
• Lead technical purchasing for semiconductor components in development projects.
• Manage supplier involvement during early design phases.
• Control time-to-market and ensure smooth introduction of new parts.
• Support risk mitigation in semiconductor supply (allocation, lead time, lifecycle management).
Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Strategy
• Develop and implement material field strategies for semiconductor and electronic components.
• Build and manage relationships with global semiconductor suppliers and distributors.
• Conduct cost analysis (should-costing, cost breakdowns, wafer/fab cost structure understanding).
• Lead price and contract negotiations aligned with global targets.
Cross-Functional & Global Coordination
• Act as interface between Business Unit, R&D, Quality, and Suppliers.
• Ensure operational support to global plants to secure supply continuity.
• Cooperate group-wide within purchasing organizations.
• Support dual sourcing and localization strategy in China.
Risk & Supply Chain Management
• Monitor semiconductor market trends (capacity, geopolitical risk, fab constraints).
• Manage supply risks including lifecycle (EOL/PCN), compliance (RoHS/REACH), and trade regulations.
• Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, Semiconductor, Industrial Engineering) or related field.
Experience
• Minimum 5+ years in Project Purchasing and Strategic Purchasing.
• Mandatory experience in:
• Semiconductor sourcing (ICs, power semis, analog/digital chips)
• Electronics components procurement
• Working with global semiconductor suppliers
• Strong understanding of:
• Semiconductor supply chain (IDM, Fabless, Foundry model)
• NPI process and lifecycle management
• Cost structure in semiconductor industry
Technical & Professional Skills
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Experience in price benchmarking and cost modeling.
• Familiar with SAP and MS Office.
• Knowledge of quality tools (APQP, PPAP preferred).
• Understanding of Incoterms and international trade compliance.
Languages
• Business fluent English (mandatory).
