  • Data Analysis & KPI Tracking: Conduct regular spend analysis, demand gap evaluations, and supplier performance tracking to ensure the department hits its operational and financial metrics.
  • Team Leadership Support: Provide daily guidance and mentorship to members of the Purchasing team, and step up to assist with management-level responsibilities or department oversight when required.

Education and Qualifications

  • Education: Post-secondary Technical or Business diploma or degree.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of tactical purchasing experience in a manufacturing or technology-driven environment, with a proven track record of handling supplier escalations and project-based work.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Professional certification or training through an accredited procurement society or equivalent.

Skills and Competencies

  • End-to-End Procurement Expertise: Comprehensive purchasing skill set spanning raw materials, fabricated parts, build-to-spec components, and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Advanced data literacy with the ability to interpret MRP system data, track performance KPIs, and translate metrics into actionable purchasing strategies.
  • Conflict Resolution & Negotiation: Strong diplomatic and negotiating skills with a proven ability to handle high-pressure supplier escalations and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Leadership Maturity: Demonstrated ability to guide junior buyers, optimize team priorities, and step up confidently into leadership or managerial tasks when necessary.
  • Agile Project Management: Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing project scopes and manage supply chain deliverables for fluctuating corporate priorities.
  • Systems & Tools: High proficiency working within MRP/ERP system-driven environments. Intermediate to advanced level computer skills (specifically Google Workspace: Sheets, Docs, and Gmail).
  • Experience with PCBA processes and electronic components, along with broader industry knowledge, is considered a strong asset.
