Purpose:

The Projects Manager is accountable for leading the delivery of PMC services for the customer projects, ensuring safe, predictable, and successful project outcomes across the full project lifecycle. This includes oversight of front-end engineering and design (FEED), detailed engineering, procurement, construction management, and commissioning support for multiple major projects.
The role provides leadership to a team of Project Managers and multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring alignment with client objectives, contractual requirements, and Worley’s ways of working while delivering strong commercial performance and creating sustainable value for our customers.

What you will do:

  • Project Leadership and Delivery:
    • Lead and oversee the delivery of multiple large-scale PMC projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and Worley standards.
    • Provide strategic direction and leadership throughout project development, execution, commissioning, and close-out.
    • Ensure effective implementation of project management processes, systems, and governance requirements.
    • Foster a high-performance project culture focused on safety, delivery excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Drive proactive decision-making and problem-solving to achieve project objectives.
  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE):
    • Champion a strong safety culture and demonstrate visible HSE leadership across all project activities.
    • Ensure HSE requirements are effectively communicated, understood, and implemented by all project participants.
    • Promote compliance with Worley, client, and regulatory HSE requirements.
    • Maintain a continual focus on risk prevention and safe project execution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management:
    • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
    • Ensure a clear understanding of client objectives and deliver outcomes that meet or exceed expectations.
    • Lead engagement with client representatives, contractors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
    • Proactively address scope, performance, cost, and schedule challenges to maintain project success.
    • Support long-term client relationships through consistent delivery and value creation.
  • Commercial and Contract Management:
    • Ensure effective administration of client and subcontract agreements.
    • Deliver projects in line with approved budgets and targeted gross margins.
    • Drive commercial awareness across the project team and support sound business decision-making.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance project value and commercial performance.
  • Scope and Change Management:
    • Ensure project scope is clearly defined, understood, and controlled throughout execution.
    • Maintain compliance with contractual obligations and project requirements.
    • Lead the implementation of robust change management processes.
    • Monitor project performance and initiate corrective actions to address emerging issues and opportunities.
  • Planning and Schedule Management:
    • Provide oversight of project planning and scheduling activities.
    • Ensure project resources are aligned with execution requirements.
    • Drive the delivery of engineering, procurement, and construction activities in accordance with approved schedules.
    • Ensure timely reporting, performance monitoring, and implementation of recovery plans where required.
    • Maintain ownership and accountability for overall project schedule performance.
  • Cost Management:
    • Oversee project estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control activities.
    • Ensure accurate and timely cost reporting and performance analysis.
    • Monitor project trends and implement actions to mitigate cost risks and optimise opportunities.
    • Promote effective cost management practices across all project functions.
  • Quality Management:
    • Establish and maintain project quality objectives and requirements.
    • Ensure fit-for-purpose systems and processes are implemented and consistently applied.
    • Promote compliance with Worley, client, and regulatory quality requirements.Drive continuous improvement through the application of lessons learned and best practices.
  • People Leadership:
    • Lead, develop, and mentor Project Managers and project delivery teams.
    • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
    • Build engaged, inclusive, and high-performing teams focused on achieving project objectives.
    • Support workforce planning, capability development, succession planning, and talent growth.
    • Participate in performance management and development processes.
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Foster effective communication across project teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
    • Ensure timely, accurate, and transparent reporting of project performance.
    • Maintain effective communication frameworks and governance processes to support project delivery.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management:
    • Lead the identification, assessment, and management of project risks and opportunities.
    • Ensure mitigation and action plans are implemented and monitored to closure.
    • Embed risk-based decision-making throughout project execution.
  • Engineering and Design Oversight:
    • Provide strategic oversight of FEED and detailed engineering activities.
    • Ensure design solutions are safe, practical, compliant, and fit for purpose.
    • Monitor engineering performance, integration, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Procurement and Contracting:
    • Provide oversight of procurement and contracting activities to support project objectives.
    • Ensure procurement strategies align with project schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
    • Monitor contractor and supplier performance to ensure contractual compliance and delivery expectations are met.
  • Construction Delivery:
    • Provide leadership and oversight of construction management activities.
    • Ensure projects are executed safely and delivered in accordance with quality, cost, and schedule commitments.
    • Support effective coordination between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognised and accredited university.
  • Minimum 20 years of post-graduate experience in engineering, project management, or project delivery.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within the oil & gas, refining, petrochemicals, or energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading major capital projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Previous experience managing multiple concurrent projects, including projects with individual values exceeding US$500 million.
  • Proven experience in engineering design, project execution, and PMC environments.
