Senior Project Support Officer (AS5) – Regional Project Delivery, Planning and Project Controls


We are seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to permanently join the Regional Planning and Project Controls team as Senior Project Support Officer and support our Regional Project Delivery teams.


About the role
The Senior Project Support Officer role will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to enhance their skills working within a high-performing project support team across regional projects. The team undertake project specific financial management and other project control activities across several diverse delivery teams. This includes:


• Use of cost management tools and the SAP system – including updating and maintaining project Cost Plans
• Maintain and finalise all financial management activities for assigned projects – includes purchase orders, work orders, requisitions, budget allocations, goods receipting, accruals, cost analysis, labour reports and corrections
• Support Externally Funded Operational Projects (EFOP), generating invoicing and maintaining project financials
• Assist in the preparation of documents for asset transfers and AUC (asset under construction) reporting
• Generate project reporting, interpret project financial and performance information
• Undertake assurance reporting and follow up actions to ensure compliance with documented processes and procedures
• Act as the initial point of escalation for Project Support Officers, providing training, process guidance and troubleshooting issues.
• Liaise with project team personnel, management, internal and external service providers and other stakeholders in the preparation of project financial activities.

What you can bring to the role:
• High level of relevant skill in providing project controls / financial management services and support
• High level of skill with contemporary office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Previous experience using SAP R3 in project environment
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and working collaboratively within a team environment
• High level of stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills
• High level of attention to detail and organisation skills, working to meet corporate deadlines
• Substantial level of knowledge of project management principles and practices in particular the general project lifecycle, financial management, project control techniques.
• Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Queensland Rail's Values and Behaviours.
