Job Description

For Grid Solutions, Offshore HVDC represents a key differentiating technology and a central focus for the business, particularly in Europe where Transmission System Operators have very ambitious renewable energy targets. Grid Solutions is partnering with TenneT, which plans to invest more than $30B by 2030 in deploying new HVDC converter stations to bring Offshore Wind energy into Germany and the Netherlands.

In this context, Grid Solutions is looking for a Senior Project Manager(m/f/d) – Civil work, who will be responsible for project operations and programs support including standardization, quality management, document management, methods creation and maintenance, process improvement and tools for the project management function. This individuum will also impact the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory roles that provide direct or indirect leadership for overall projects operation, including leadership for operations in which activities are centralized shared resources to execute customer projects and/or project monitoring activities.
  • Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college. Preferably a technical /geological degree.
  • Many years of experience in project management of large and complex projects (+$100M minimum).
  • Experience in Civil work company or Turnkey contract with Civil Works package.

  • Excellent communication & cooperation skills, you are willing to have fun and deliver as member of a dynamic team of passionate project professionals from all backgrounds.
  • Ability to lead an international team (20+ members) and manage stakeholders in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to create trustworthy & lasting relationship with customers.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, embodying GE leadership behaviors: Humility, Focus, Transparency.
  • Superior skills covering the full project management cycle: integration management, planning, cost control, procurement, risk management, contract management, construction management.
  • Technical knowledge in High Voltage electrical grids and ideally power electronics / HVDC will be an advantage.
  • Experience in offshore projects will be an advantage.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (30%)
  • Fluent in English, German language is a decisive advantage
