Senior Project Manager - Utilities Electrical

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager - Utilities Electrical to lead the utility electrical infrastructure and high-voltage substation scope for a large-scale data center project in Vernon, TX. This is a full-time, onsite role responsible for managing all phases of project delivery, from design and procurement through construction, commissioning, energization, and closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of utility electrical and high-voltage substation projects from planning through turnover.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, contracts, procurement, and risk mitigation.
  • Act as the primary liaison between utility providers, contractors, engineers, vendors, and site leadership.
  • Oversee construction, QA/QC, testing, commissioning, and energization activities.

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals related to safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Serve as the Owner's Representative for the utility electrical and substation package.
  • Lead coordination between utility providers, contractors, engineers, vendors, commissioning teams, and data center stakeholders.
  • Oversee utility interconnections, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection and controls, SCADA, grounding, and power distribution systems.
  • Manage energization planning, testing, commissioning, and turnover of mission-critical power infrastructure.
  • Focus on utility and substation construction rather than building-level electrical systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of project management experience with electrical infrastructure or power delivery projects.
  • Experience delivering utility substations, high-voltage infrastructure, utility interconnections, transmission/distribution systems, or mission-critical power projects.
  • Proven experience managing projects exceeding $50M.
  • Strong knowledge of substations, transformers, switchgear, breakers, protection and controls, grounding systems, cable systems, and energization.
  • Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, electrical drawings, specifications, and commissioning procedures.
  • Experience with electrical QA/QC, testing, commissioning, turnover, and energization planning.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hyperscale data centers, utility, industrial, or mission-critical construction projects.
  • PMP and/or PE certification.
  • Previous experience serving as an Owner's Representative on large-scale electrical utility or substation projects.
  • Experience leading utility interconnections, switching coordination, and substation energization activities.
