Job Description

The Senior Manager, Design – Premium & Select MEA supports the delivery of design activities across Marriott International’s premium and select portfolio in the Middle East & Africa. Reporting to the Senior Director, Premium & Select MEA, the role is responsible for providing design oversight on managed, franchised, and company-owned projects to ensure quality control, brand compliance, and operational alignment.

The position supports multiple projects of varying scope and complexity, contributing to feasibility assessments, design development, and project execution while collaborating with Development, Brand, and Operations teams. The role plays a key part in maintaining brand standards and supporting successful project delivery across the region.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Design & Project Management

  • Deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with brand standards
  • Manage renovation and new development projects from concept through completion
  • Provide design direction to ensure alignment with brand strategy and operational requirements
  • Review architectural designs, BOH layouts, and operational adjacencies
  • Oversee design consultants, proposals, and project objectives
  • Ensure design quality assurance including reviews, approvals, construction support, and project opening
  • Provide conceptual design studies and guidance on materials and specifications
  • Interpret brand standards and provide guidance to owners and project teams
  • Manage project communication across stakeholders and provide regular updates
  • Support presentations and approvals with senior leadership
  • Assist in negotiation and implementation of design solutions and changes

Feasibility & Design Development

  • Support feasibility analysis and early-stage project evaluations
  • Coordinate criteria and facilities programs for assigned projects
  • Participate in site visits and market assessments
  • Provide design reviews for pre-signed projects in collaboration with Development and Operations
  • Track and report on project pipeline activity

Financial & Operational Management

  • Work with Global Design Accounting to manage projects within approved budgets
  • Prepare fee and expense estimates for work orders and agreements
  • Ensure delivery within budget and timeline expectations

Stakeholder & Owner Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, franchisees, and stakeholders
  • Act as a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure clear communication and alignment across all project stakeholders

Team & Organizational Contribution

  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of brand standards
  • Support knowledge sharing and process improvement initiatives
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members where appropriate
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes
  • Demonstrate continuous learning and development

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
  • Comply with Marriott International regional policies and procedures

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in architecture, design, or project management
  • Experience working on large-scale commercial and/or hospitality projects
  • Previous experience in a project management leadership role

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related design discipline

Technical Skills

  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe, and database tools
  • Strong organizational and project management skills

Leadership Capabilities

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to manage complex challenges
  • Ability to work across diverse and cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of industry trends and innovation
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Fluency in English and Arabic required; additional language skills beneficial

  • Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  • Travel: Approximately 50% required
  • Regional scope: Middle East & Africa
