Job Description

Join the Migrations Centre of Excellence (MCoE) Team!

At TELUS, you're part of a future-friendly national team, one that embraces change and initiates opportunity, has a passion for growth, believes in spirited teamwork, and has the courage to innovate. This role resides within the Migrations Centre of Excellence (MCoE), TELUS's specialized team dedicated to delivering seamless customer experiences during mandatory network transitions and infrastructure modernization. We provide expert guidance, technical excellence, and personalized support to maintain exceptional customer satisfaction and business continuity during critical network transitions. If you are a self-starter who excels at managing complex project finances, resource planning, and using data to tell compelling stories to diverse stakeholders, you’d fit right into this team!

Join our team and what we'll accomplish together

The MCoE team is currently looking for an enthusiastic Senior Project Manager to manage large, highly complex, cross-functional migration projects—such as Migrate As We Build (MAWB), RECO(Copper to Fibre/Wireless), and Mascon integrations. The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of these enterprise projects over their entire life cycle.

You will be instrumental in ensuring our essential network transformations are executed seamlessly with minimal impact on our customers. By maintaining a strong grip on project financials, leveraging modern reporting tools, and accurately forecasting resources, you will directly drive our core success metrics: Migration Success Rate, Customer Satisfaction, Delivery Performance, and Migration Optimization.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:

  • End-to-End Project Management: Manage all aspects of large-scale projects or groups of related projects over their entire life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close) independently and with mastery.
  • Project Financials & Forecasting (Emphasis): Manage project financials rigorously. You will be responsible for precise budget tracking, robust forecasting, and validating that program deliveries align with business case benefits and strategic goals.
  • Resource Planning & Scope Management: Define project scope and objectives, execute precise resource planning, and develop accurate schedules to ensure the timely completion of MCoE enterprise initiatives.
  • Reporting & Data Storytelling: Communicate project details effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. You will act as a great storyteller, creating dynamic reporting and dashboards utilizing tools like Looker Studio and GitHub to translate complex data and project statuses into easily digestible, actionable insights.
  • Project Control & Risk Mitigation: Ensure tight control of the project by effectively dealing with conflicting priorities, issues, dependencies, and changes. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks to ensure continuous business operations.
  • Quality & Mentorship: Ensure deliverables adhere to quality standards. Coach and mentor team members in the latest project management controls, methods, and best practices.

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Advanced Project Financials Management: Deep expertise in managing budgets, financial tracking, forecasting, and capacity/resource planning.
  • Expert Communication & Storytelling: Advanced interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills. You are a great storyteller who can simplify complex project details and data insights for audiences without a technical background.
  • Technical Reporting Expertise: Proven ability to create automated reporting and dashboards, specifically knowing how to use Looker Studio and GitHub.
  • Strategic Project Management: Advanced proficiency in project management methodologies, principles, and practices, with the organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines for tasks of varying complexity.
  • Stakeholder Management: Advanced ability to work effectively with various levels of management and cross-functional teams to drive alignment.
  • Education: A University Degree coupled with 7 to 10+ years of equivalent experience.

Great-to-Haves

  • PMP designation, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, or Own.it certifications.
  • Strong background in analytics engineering, including data visualization (Looker), version control, and collaborative development practices.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications infrastructure modernization, including coaxial, copper, and fibre network migrations.
