Senior Project Manager (Insurance – Life)

Introduction

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a leading organisation within the insurance sector. We are seeking a results-driven professional with strong project delivery experience in the Life Insurance industry to lead strategic initiatives, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure the successful delivery of complex business and technology projects.

This role is based in Johannesburg and is ideally suited to someone who can start immediately

Duties & Responsibilities

• 
  Lead the end-to-end delivery of strategic projects within the insurance environment.
• 
  Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to scope.
• 
  Develop and maintain detailed project plans, budgets, timelines, and risk registers.
• 
  Work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and executive management.
• 
  Manage project governance, reporting, and steering committee presentations.
• 
  Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• 
  Ensure effective change management and stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• 
  Coordinate cross-functional resources to deliver business objectives.
• 
  Drive continuous improvement in project delivery methodologies and governance.
• 
  Ensure compliance with organisational standards and regulatory requirements.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• 
  Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 
  PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum, or equivalent Project Management certification.
• 8–10+ years' experience managing complex projects.
• Proven experience within the Insurance industry is essential.
• Life Insurance experience is highly preferred.
• 
  Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
• 
  Experience managing enterprise-wide transformation or technology projects.
• 
  Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• 
  Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• 
  Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Requirements

• 
  Extensive Project Management experience.
• 
  Insurance industry background (essential).
• 
  Life Insurance experience (preferred).
• 
  Immediate availability or short notice period.
• 
  Based in or willing to work in Johannesburg.
