Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Manager for our Structural Inspection Group to play a key role on our team in Norwood, Massachusetts, office. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural inspections and project management who can bring creative problem-solving skills balanced with a strong background in the field. This position requires the ability to manage inspection contracts and tasks, liaise with clients and government agencies, and direct teams. The Senior Project Manager provides project management leadership to the local office by performing the following duties.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as project manager on complex projects and as designated client contact.
  • Provides leadership on multiple projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Manages and provides leadership on inspection projects, including:
    • Proposal preparation
    • Project budgets
    • Project schedules and timely completion
    • Project quality
    • Project profitability
  • Assist in ensuring that external client focus is top priority of the region and those systems, processes, and activities that focus on the client at all levels of the region are implemented.
  • Successfully develops and maintains meaningful relationships with clients.
  • Prepares agreements and contracts, sets project goals, fees, schedule, budget, and staffing needs.
  • Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
  • Maintains understanding of project financials. Regularly reviews schedules, deadlines and budgets to ensure profitability.
  • Ensures accurate client billings, reviews invoices, and monitors outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Assists the Regional Manager in Business Development efforts.
  • Responsible for assisting in identifying and cultivating new businesses and clients.
  • Leads the pursuit process, including proposal preparation, project scoping, estimating project costs, contract negotiations, project planning, and project quality.
  • Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
  • Provides leadership to project teams and support staff.
  • Serves as a mentor for other Project Managers and technical staff.
  • Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
  • Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receive such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work.
  • Provides expertise in complex difficult inspection, access, coordination, and estimates in inspection projects.
  • Is active in technical societies.
  • Publishes engineering papers and/or articles.

Qualifications

Education and/or

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • A minimum of 12 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.
  • 5 years or more of progressive experience in project management.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Maintains competency in and serves as major firm resource in field of expertise.
