Job Description

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Senior Manager of the Enterprise Project Management Office (PMO), the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for managing the activities related to departmental and/or organizational projects. The Senior Project Manager will plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes identifying resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. In conjunction with the Senior Manager of the Enterprise Project Management Office, the Senior Project Manager will contribute to defining the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its implementation.

Qualified candidates must be based in San Diego County, or demonstrate understanding & willingness to relocate prior to start date, if selected for this position.

Essential Functions of the Job:
• Direct and manage project development from beginning to end
• Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with IT Leadership
• Develop full-scale project documentation according to ePMO standards
• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
• Work with project teams, estimate the resources, durations, and tasks needed to achieve project goals
• Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
• Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the assignment of required personnel from within the organization
• Assign tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel on the project team
• Identify and resolve issues with the project team
• Plan, schedule, and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools according to the ePMO standards
• Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
• Utilize tools for project execution and management established by the PMO
• Conduct quality evaluations and analysis to assess skill/knowledge levels of all staff impacted as part of the project
• Work with Training team and project team members to develop training strategies for stakeholders affected by project implementation
• Attend and facilitate meetings as required and contribute ideas for improving efficiency, productivity, and patient satisfaction
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify risks, and propose contingency plans
• Assist in development of project success criteria and disseminate the information to involved parties throughout the project lifecycle
• Advise project team members and contractors relative to assigned tasks and timelines
• Coordinate project closure meetings with the project team members to identify and document lessons learned and close project budget

Job Requirements

Experience Required:
• 10 years of project management experience

Education Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree

Certifications Required:
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification issued by PMI

Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:
• Superb organizational ability and exceptional analytical skills
• Demonstrate ability to exercise good judgement, prioritize multiple tasks, and problem solve under pressure of deadlines and resources constraints required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, both technical and business focused
• Experience using MS Office tools, MS Project, MS Visio, MS Excel, WebEx, etc.
• At ease working with all levels of staff, including clinical providers and senior management
• Ability to organize complex information into simple formats
• Comfortable working on many different projects at the same time

Equipment Used:
• General office equipment to include PC and Software (Excel, Word, Office), phone, fax, etc.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
• Flexibility in schedule to meet project deadlines
• Sitting for extended periods of time
• Sufficient dexterity to effectively operate a computer keyboard and other related peripherals
• Reliable home internet connection
• Qualified candidates must be based in San Diego County, or demonstrate understanding & willingness to relocate prior to start date, if selected for this position
