The Reserve Bank of Australia is seeking a fixed term Senior Project Manager to lead a strategic, enterprise-wide initiative focused on strengthening data foundations and enabling policy teams.

This high-impact work sits at the intersection of data, technology, and business transformation, and will play a critical role in shaping how the Bank delivers policy outcomes into the future.

You will take on a key leadership role driving delivery across multiple interconnected streams in a complex and evolving environment.

This is a fixed term contract to August 2027, with the opportunity for extension

About the Program

This initiative is designed to enhance the Bank’s ability to operate effectively in an increasingly complex and fast-moving environment.

It includes a combination of:

  • Data and analytics uplift

    • Improving data accessibility, quality, governance, and usability

    • Enabling modern data and analytics capabilities

  • Technology-enabled transformation

    • Leveraging emerging technologies, including AI, to improve effectiveness and efficiency

    • Supporting experimentation and scaled adoption of new tools

  • Business and operating model change

    • Reviewing and improving processes and workflows

    • Supporting uplift in workforce capability and ways of working

The program spans multiple business and technology domains and requires strong coordination across stakeholders and delivery partners.

About the Role

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end delivery across multiple workstreams, ensuring outcomes are aligned to strategic objectives and realised effectively.

You will:

  • Lead program delivery

    • Plan, manage, and direct all aspects of delivery to achieve agreed outcomes and benefits

    • Establish and maintain appropriate governance, structure, and delivery approach

  • Manage multi-stream execution

    • Coordinate delivery across data, technology, and business transformation initiatives

    • Ensure alignment of scope, priorities, and dependencies

  • Apply structured project management discipline

    • Ensure adherence to internal frameworks, governance, and reporting standards

    • Develop and maintain detailed schedules, estimates, and resource plans

  • Lead stakeholder engagement

    • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across business and technology

    • Establish effective working groups and maintain alignment across diverse teams

  • Manage risks, issues, and dependencies

    • Proactively identify and mitigate risks

    • Provide clear, timely insights to support decision-making

  • Oversee financials and resourcing

    • Manage program financials and resource allocation

    • Ensure effective utilisation of internal teams and external partners

  • Drive change and value realisation

    • Support adoption of new capabilities, tools, and ways of working

    • Ensure delivery outcomes translate into tangible improvements

About You

You are a highly capable and structured Project Manager with experience delivering complex, enterprise-wide initiatives across business and technology.

You bring:

  • Extensive project/program delivery experience (10+ years), ideally in data, technology, or enterprise transformation

  • Proven ability to lead multi-stream delivery in complex environments

  • Strong understanding of data, analytics, or technology-enabled change (conceptual understanding essential)

  • Demonstrated experience working across business and IT stakeholders

  • Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical capability

  • Experience managing vendors and delivery partners

  • Ability to operate effectively in dynamic, ambiguous environments

Highly Regarded

  • Experience in financial services or public sector environments

  • Exposure to data, analytics, or AI-related initiatives

  • Experience in process or operating model transformation

  • Familiarity with structured PMO / EPMO delivery environments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or related field

  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent) preferred
