Job Description

Leidos Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Power Delivery Solutions division. In this role, you will work alongside team members to provide Project Management Services supporting electric utility clients throughout the Northern and Midwestern US. You will oversee a portfolio of diverse Substation projects. Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for portfolio management, client relations and driving special initiatives. Additionally, you will lead larger proposals, help to manage other PMs, and ensure the successful delivery of projects while adhering to Leidos' Mission, Vision, and Values.

This role has some remote and hybrid-working capabilities, but candidates must be located in or adjacent to the greater Chicago area in order to be considered. This allows us to best serve the needs of our localized utility clients and internal teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of project managers to deliver comprehensive substation engineering design projects for electric utility clients

  • Take ownership of overall portfolio performance, including cost, schedule, and scope management

  • Drive strategic initiatives within the organization, focusing on process improvements and operational efficiencies

  • Mentor and develop project management staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning

  • Interface with clients and internal stakeholders to address issues, report progress, and mitigate risks across the project portfolio

  • Oversee the preparation of bid documents, cost estimates, and responses to Requests For Proposal

  • Manage monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable processes

  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities to support organizational growth

  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and quality control standards

  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including clients, project teams, subcontractors, and support personnel

Qualifications/Background Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or Related field

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant Project Management experience in the electric power industry or associated fieldwith BS Degree OR minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience with a Master's degree

  • Previous experience working with electric utilities required

  • Must demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the electric power industry/electric power infrastructure projects

  • Demonstrated experience working with project financials, bid proposals and cost estimates

  • Demonstrated experience with portfolio management, contract management and risk mitigation

  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on portfolio management and team development

  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Workfront, MS Project, P6) and MS Office Suite

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to travel periodically as required, so candidates should posses a valid US driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP Certification

  • Experience working with substation projects

  • Demonstrated success in a consulting environment

  • Direct experience with Transmission Line projects for US-based electric utilities

  • A comprehensive understanding of electric power and infrastructure projects related to US based electric utilities

  • Experience with PowerBI and/or visualization tools

  • Prior experience in a leadership position

Pay Range:

Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
