The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur. Bachelor’s degree in Facilities or Construction Management or related Engineering field from an appropriately accredited institution
three (3) years of related experience in construction project management,
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
Engineering is the State Highway Patrol’s (SHP) capital program manager, and manager of physical plant operations. This physical plant constitutes approximate 175,000 square feet of building space largely situated in Raleigh, NC (100,000 SF) and other sites distributed across the State that includes co-located space with the NCDOT or leased space of 50,000 SF. Portfolio also includes critical VIPER communications sites. A full range of architectural, engineering and construction services is rendered to SHP. The mission of these services is to ensure that the Department’s physical plant is designed, constructed, operated, and maintained in an optimal and safe manner, while satisfying the needs of the end users. Engineering manages the design, construction, renovation and repairs, maintenance programming, real and leased property, and budgetary planning and management for these various functions.
