Job Description

About Akura

At Akura, people come first. We are a hands-on, values-driven culture where initiative is encouraged, accountability matters and good work is recognised. You’ll be part of a team that takes pride in what we deliver and supports each other to do it well.

Akura is an industrial design and construction specialist, delivering high quality property solutions for owner-occupiers, developers and investors. With more than 50 years of experience, we’ve built a reputation on quality, speed of delivery and buildings that are made to last.

We specialise in industrial units, warehouses and self-storage facilities, with in-house manufacturing of structural steel and precast concrete panels at the core of our offering. We support our clients across the full project lifecycle – from architectural and structural design through to on-site construction and delivery. We also work directly with builders to supply engineered steel and precast packages.

Join a business with a strong pipeline, long-term vision and the opportunity to contribute to projects that shape Australia’s industrial landscape while building a career you can be proud of.

About The Role

As the Senior Project Manager, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of multiple multimillion-dollar construction projects across Sydney Metropolitan and Regional NSW, with a strong pipeline of exciting projects ahead. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of projects, overseeing resources, budgets, timelines, quality and client relationships.

Based in our Rhodes office, you will work closely with internal teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, while meeting agreed specifications, timelines and commercial objectives. The role will also involve travel to project sites across Sydney Metropolitan and Regional NSW as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, deliverables and objectives, efficiently allocate resources, and establish realistic project timelines.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including key milestones, budgets, resources and deliverables, and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review contract and project documentation to ensure requirements, responsibilities and deliverables are clearly understood and communicated.
  • Coordinate and disseminate project information, including RFIs, RFDs, CSDs, NODs and EOTs, ensuring matters are appropriately documented and actioned.
  • Consult and collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors and other technical consultants to ensure criteria, specifications and project requirements are met.
  • Lead and manage project teams, providing direction and accountability to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to the required standards.
  • Oversee project execution and monitor performance against approved plans, budgets, timelines and Scope of Work (SOW) targets, adjusting resources and schedules as required.
  • Manage project budgets and commercial performance, ensuring projects are delivered within budget while meeting agreed specifications, timelines and quality standards.
  • Identify, assess and manage project risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies to minimise disruptions and protect project outcomes.
  • Manage and document project variations, ensuring proposed changes are appropriately assessed for their impact on cost, program, scope and quality.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all project sites, ensuring compliance with company policies, WHS requirements and relevant industry regulations.
  • Ensure project teams adhere to all applicable safety procedures, standards and regulatory requirements throughout project delivery.

About You

You will be an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Project Manager with a strong track record of delivering large-scale commercial construction projects. Experience working on industrial projects would be highly advantageous, with an understanding of the unique requirements and complexities involved in industrial construction.

You will have a proven ability to manage complex projects, meet key deadlines, and deliver high standards of quality, safety and commercial performance. The role requires strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate project teams, make sound decisions, manage key stakeholders, and foster a collaborative and accountable environment that drives successful project outcomes.

You can demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Project Manager role, with a proven career progression from Contracts Administrator to Project Manager. Experience delivering industrial construction projects is highly desirable.
  • A tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Building, Engineering or a related discipline would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, regulatory requirements, commercial principles and project management processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and people leadership skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritise competing demands and consistently meet project deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Procore and the Microsoft Office Suite is desirable.

What We Offer You

  • An exciting opportunity in a growing, market-leading business
  • Opportunity to grow your career – we invest in our people
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Competitive salary | Base + Super + Vehicle Allowance + Phone Allowance
  • Inclusion in the Akura Bonus Scheme + Project Incentive Scheme
