Job Purpose

Manage the successful end to end planning, execution and delivery of projects, to the required business objectives within the constraints of time, cost and quality.

Responsibilities

Project and Program Management
Plan, lead and manage the delivery of complex projects and programmes within a defined
area of professional expertise, applying fit-for-purpose project management methodologies
to ensure strategic outcomes are achieved. Ensure all initiatives are realistically
scoped, structured, and resourced to meet business requirements and deliver against
approved plans. Lead a range of activities including stakeholder consultation, information
gathering, and analysis to define and negotiate project deliverables. Maintain a strong
focus on outcomes, ensuring each project delivers a tangible product, service, or result.
Make informed decisions within the boundaries of approved time, cost, and scope, and
remain accountable for the overall success of the project. Establish a clear understanding
of project goals and stakeholder expectations and effectively negotiate and define the
scope of work to enable successful delivery.

Project and Program Quality | Governance and Policy Management
Ensure the consistent execution of quality standards across all phases of project and program delivery. Apply established assurance frameworks, tools, and controls to monitor performance, validate outputs, and drive continuous improvement. Lead quality-focused interventions, reviews, and audits to identify gaps and implement corrective actions that enhance delivery outcomes. Collaborate with delivery teams and stakeholders to embed quality into daily execution, ensuring that deliverables meet agreed specifications, client expectations, and organisational standards.

Project and Program Stakeholder Engagement | Project and Program Management
Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans for projects to identify relevant
stakeholders, to develop positive stakeholder relationships, and to ensure that each
stakeholder has an appropriate share of voice. Ensure effective communication to business
owners, internal customers and other relevant stakeholders, to keep them informed,
facilitate decision making, take corrective action and set direction. Build sound working
relationships with all relevant stakeholders, delivery partners and 3rd parties. Ensure
the effective facilitation of all stakeholders’ input.

Project and Program Risks and Issues Management | Project and Program Management
Manage identification of risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with the
project, escalating these where appropriate. Where necessary, develop, agree on, and
implement solutions to overcome these. Transparently manage and control project delivery
through effective management and communication of risks, issues, expectations, scope
change and decisions required. Ensure that risk and issue management is embedded
throughout the project lifecycle, enabling timely corrective actions and informed
decision-making. Facilitate regular reviews and updates to maintain alignment with
delivery objectives and ensure accountability across all levels of the project.

Project and Program Resource Management | Project and Program Management
Manage the deployment and utilisation of project resources to ensure efficient delivery
and cost control. Lead cross-functional teams, often without direct reporting lines, by
fostering collaboration, alignment and a shared commitment to delivery outcomes. Motivate
and guide team members across different disciplines to achieve a unified approach,
ensuring that resources are effectively coordinated and optimally allocated throughout the
project lifecycle.

Project and Program Reporting and Reviews | Project and Program Management
Specify and lead the delivery of the review process at project and program levels to
ensure that stakeholders are able to evaluate progress and agree on change at appropriate
points. Prepare and present project review reports and dashboards that include key
performance information, insightful commentary, and actionable recommendations to support
governance and stakeholder evaluation. Ensure reporting is timely, accurate and aligned to
project milestones, enabling informed decisions and effective course correction where
needed. Track and report on financial and business benefit metrics, providing clear
visibility into progress against targets. Facilitate regular review sessions with
stakeholders to assess delivery status, validate outcomes and agree on any required
changes to scope, timelines or resources. Use effective project management tools to
generate real-time insights, track progress, and visualise performance against milestones and targets.

Project Cost Management | Project and Program Management
Oversee and monitor project budgets using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to
ensure financial control and delivery performance in accordance with the project plans.
Provide accurate forecasts and present variances with clear narrative at key review points
to support informed decision-making. Use effective project management and financial
tracking tools to generate insights, visualise budget performance, and enable proactive
cost management throughout the project lifecycle.

Project and Program Governance | Project and Program Management
Ensure consistent compliance with the project governance framework and methodology across
all projects and programmes. Oversee effective and efficient project administration,
including the maintenance of project documentation, schedule planning and updates, and
adherence to governance checkpoints. Integrate governance practices with financial control
by aligning project plans and reporting with Earned Value Management (EVM) principles. Use
project management tools to support transparent oversight, enabling timely reviews,
informed decision-making and alignment with organisational standards throughout the
delivery lifecycle.

Continuous Improvement | Operational Efficiency
Continuously review and assess existing project and programme delivery practices to
identify opportunities for improvement. Implement innovation processes and practical
enhancements that generate new ideas, uplift delivery standards and improve efficiency.
Use insights from project performance data, stakeholder feedback and lessons learned to
drive meaningful change and embed a culture of continuous improvement across all areas of
work.

Personal Capability Building | People - Learning and Development
Actively develop personal capabilities through formal and informal training, coaching, and
participation in assessment and development planning activities. Maintain external
professional accreditations where relevant and pursue continuous professional development
to enhance performance and realise personal potential. Stay up to date with current and
emerging technologies and industry best practices through ongoing education or attending
conferences. Serve as a subject matter expert in a defined area of technology or
operational management, providing guidance and insight to the team and contributing to the
overall maturity of project and programme delivery.

Education

Grade 12/ SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential); Certification or Accreditation in a Recognised Project Methodology (Agile, Prince2/PMBOK) (Essential); 3 year Degree or Diploma in Project management (Advantageous)

Experience

5 or more years’ experience in the discipline of Project Management (Essential); Previous senior project management experience (Advantageous); Experience in Financial Services Industry (Advantageous)
