The purpose of this role is to manage projects, on behalf of clients for all phases of the project, including the 6 stages of the project rollout process. Projects managed by a Senior Project Manager will be across different industries and across country borders.
Project Management
- Manages the total Project life cycle from conception to completion
- Facilitate the development of a Clear Brief
- Clearly Define the Roles and Responsibilities of the Consulting Team
- Develops a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources
- Tracks, manages and reports on the construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated
- Plans, organizes, directs, and the programme control and project management
- Oversees other project support activities, such as quality assurance, configuration control, project interface, environmental mitigation monitoring, systems integration, property and right-of-way acquisition, administration of interagency agreements, contracts administration and procurement, community relations, and management and administrative services support
- Monitors budget and schedule performance, implements cost and schedule control procedures, and implements elements of the quality assurance program
Manages client relationships
- Reports to clients about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated
- Builds good relationships between client, consulting, and construction teams
- Drive effective client service throughout the business and maintain effective relationships with key clients & stakeholders through proactive & ethical business practices
Coordination of sub-contractors and supervision of project staff
- Oversee performance of all trade contractors and reviews architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed
- Supervises assistant project managers, reviews their reports, checks on any reported difficulties, and corrects any safety violations or other reported deficiencies
- Selects, monitors and reports on the work of subcontractors working on various phases of the project
- Reviews and monitors activities of the Project Management Team regularly
- Manages the daily activities of the project team
Administration
- Manages the completion of all required project documentation and reporting within specified deadlines, including: Minutes, Progress Reports, Management reports, Quality Reports, Monthly reports
- Is responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses
- Timely communication of project status and issues, and maintains technical and administrative control for projects
Management of Staff
- Holds monthly meetings with each project manager/assistant project manager to plan activities, set objectives and review progress against objectives.
- Effectively delegates tasks to subordinates according to their level of ability or personal development plans
- Employee development needs are identified and discussed, training and development plans are put in place for each subordinate.
- Gives opportunity to project manager/assistant project manager chair project & planning / site / ad hoc meetings
- Discusses "lessons learned" from employee’s mistakes / poor judgment to enhance quality of outputs / efficiency in the future - Provides feedback for development in a constructive and professional manner. (Included in Minutes - and career aspirations document)
- Holds quarterly performance reviews (at least 3) with each project manager/assistant project manager provide feedback for development prior to annual performance reviews.
- Adapts management style according to each employee’s profile, values and career aspirations
- Takes the appropriate disciplinary actions (within legal requirements and in line with company policy) when required.
Marketing and business development
- Taking responsibility for developing new business opportunities with existing and new Turner & Townsend clients
- Identifying and acting upon cross-selling opportunities
- Working with Associate Directors and Directors to construct bids for new work
- Attending formal client pitches with Assistant Directors and Directors
- Ensuring that project case study, photograph and project CV files are kept up to date
- Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve project management products and services
Qualifications
Qualifications
- BSc Degree or BTech Degree or Diploma in the Built Environment
- Professional Membership with registered accreditation body
Experience
- Minimum: 10 years’ experience or more in the Built environment, of which 7 years’ experience or more in construction project management
Interpersonal competencies
- Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Problem solving skills
Basic Knowledge of:

- Regulations relating to the Built Environment industry
