We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead complex technology and Business Process Reengineering (BPR) initiatives for our client. The Senior Project Manager will oversee cross-functional teams through all phases of project planning and execution, including system selection, integration, data migration, QA/QC testing, training, and implementation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing enterprise technology projects within the transit industry and possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. This position will be a full-time contract role and onsite in Hyattsville, MD.
What You'll Do
Oversee day-to-day management of Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and Information Technology projects
Partner with sponsoring organizations to conduct needs assessments, scope definition, risk analyses, and process improvement initiatives
Draft specifications, review proposals, define work plans, and monitor project deliverables and status
Review project proposals and plans to determine timelines, funding requirements, staffing needs, and resource allocation
Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams through project launch, system selection, integration, data migration, QA/QC testing, training, and implementation
Apply project management best practices and methodologies appropriate to project scope and objectives
Develop and manage project schedules utilizing Primavera Scheduler, MS Project, or similar project management tools
Monitor contractor and project personnel status reports and adjust plans or schedules as needed
Prepare detailed project reports for management, stakeholders, and clients
Provide technical guidance to project teams and resolve project-related issues
Perform power system engineering and deployment management activities
Manage software quality assurance testing, issue tracking, correction, and verification processes
Maintain documentation and databases related to software defects and resolutions
Assign responsibilities and establish accountability across project team members
Conduct project meetings with contractors and stakeholders to track progress and communicate action items
Resolve issues proactively to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget
Conduct post-project evaluations and implement lessons learned for continuous improvement
Maintain a long-term strategic outlook for systems and technologies under management
Manage project risks, revise plans when necessary, and communicate changes effectively
Maintain strong relationships with project sponsors to ensure stakeholder alignment and support
Prepare and evaluate proposals and solicitations
What You'll Need
Required:
Minimum of seven (7) years of Information Technology, Project Management, and consulting experience
Recent, verifiable experience supporting transit industry projects
Demonstrated knowledge of voice, data, and power systems
Proven success managing large-scale enterprise system implementation projects
Experience with current information technologies and/or SPA initiatives
Experience designing low- and high-voltage AC/DC power systems
Formal project management training and experience in estimating, cost management, schedule management, and variance reporting
Expertise with project management tools such as Primavera Scheduler and Microsoft Project
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience managing technology product evaluations and complex enterprise system reengineering initiatives
Familiarity with Internet access, email, and web hosting technologies
Preferred:
Experience leading technology-driven projects within large public sector or transportation organizations
Knowledge of systems integration, data conversion, and enterprise application deployment
Experience managing software quality assurance and testing programs
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar project management credential
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional movement throughout the office and project locations
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor, etc.
Ability to participate in onsite meetings and coordinate project activities across multiple stakeholders

$60 - $65 per hour
The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
