Job Description

Shape the future.  Live the lifestyle.

Join our team in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), where strong community connections and long-standing partnerships underpin the work we do.  We’ve been delivering key 3 Waters infrastructure projects and are currently engaged in a varied pipeline of developments that will have a lasting impact on the region. Beyond the work, Wellington offers an exceptional lifestyle - coastlines, bush-clad hills and a vibrant city all within minutes.  Known for its creative culture, cafes and compact CBD, it’s a place where career opportunities and lifestyle go hand in hand. Not Wellington based?  No problem, we’re happy to support relocation for the right person.

As our project portfolio continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Senior PM to lead the delivery of a diverse range of 3 Waters and infrastructure resilience projects, encompassing treatment plants, stormwater reticulation, bulk supply pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs, mains renewals and associated networks.

You’ll be joining a supportive, high-performing local team who are embedded in the community, with the experienced backing of a larger national business that genuinely looks after its people. This is a unique opportunity to expand your professional horizons while working on great projects that make a real impact on the future of our communities.

You Matter @ TBIG

We really mean it – we want you to enjoy your work and the people around you. Our focus is on creating opportunities, not barriers, and giving you the autonomy to lead projects, back your judgement and collaborate with confidence.

You’ll receive a great salary package, but we know a rewarding role is about more than just pay. Longer term, there’s the opportunity to become one of our employee shareholders, along with flexible working arrangements to support balance in your day-to-day. We’re also committed to your ongoing growth, with access to networking, industry memberships and professional development.

On top of that, we make time for the extras that matter – regular social events, wellbeing initiatives like our Spring Challenge, and opportunities to grow personally as well as professionally.

The Role

You’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle – from early feasibility through to delivery and handover. While you’ll bring strong project leadership and strategic oversight, you’ll also be comfortable staying close to the detail and pitching in with the day-to-day – whether that’s issuing CI’s, leading meetings or keeping clients well informed through clear reporting.

We’re looking for someone with proven experience delivering projects in complex stakeholder environments, who can confidently lead through all stages of delivery on significant, high-impact work.

Your experience needs to include:

  • Around 8+ years’ post grad experience in civil engineering, project delivery, or construction management, including some time spent performing in the role of consultant or client-side Project Manager. We need you to understand infrastructure projects, but more importantly we need you to be an experienced PM delivering these projects as our client’s representative.

  • Relevant qualifications in a STEM discipline such as Civil Engineering, or Construction PM.

  • A current driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites locally and in the wider region.

  • You’ll bring a range of project experience with you, which will include civil infrastructure project delivery through all stages, in particular, delivery of 3 Waters assets. Additional experience in delivering building projects is a bonus.

  • Strong leadership coordinating design and technical teams including management of multiple project stakeholders and management of the project consenting process.

  • The proven ability to challenge concepts, resolve problems and provide solutions.

  • Detailed knowledge and the preparation of robust contract documents, correspondence and reporting. Demonstrable experience with NZS3910/NZS3916 contracts acting as Engineer’s Representative.

  • Strong understanding of relevant New Zealand building regulations and legislation, and a strong focus on health and safety.
