Senior Project Manager – Rail Systems 2 positions currently available

Join a high-profile Digital Systems Program delivering complex, technology-driven rail projects that shape the future of transport. We’re seeking experienced Senior Project Managers to lead major initiatives across two critical streams: Onboard (Rollingstock) and Traffic Management System/ Control Systems or Trackside Signalling.

Reporting to the Deputy Project Director – Rail Systems, you’ll drive end-to-end delivery of complex programs in live operational environments—ensuring outcomes meet safety, cost, quality and performance expectations while delivering real value to customers and communities.

About the Role

You will lead cross-functional teams and manage large-scale, integrated projects spanning system design, digital technologies, safety and operational performance. Working closely with engineers, operators, vendors and stakeholders, you will:

  • Oversee full project lifecycles—from concept to commissioning
  • Drive system integration and ensure safe, reliable performance
  • Manage contracts, budgets, governance and reporting
  • Navigate complex, brownfield environments and operational constraints
  • Proactively manage risks, priorities and stakeholder expectations

Opportunities Available

We are hiring across two specialist areas:

1. Onboard (Rollingstock)

  • Lead fleet upgrade and onboard system integration programs
  • Work on fit-outs, testing and commissioning of rollingstock systems
  • Apply expertise in signalling (including ETCS) and system performance

2. Traffic Management System (TMS) / Control Systems or Trackside Signalling

  • Deliver integrated train control and signalling system
  • Oversee interfaces across onboard, trackside, TMS and communications systems
  • Manage complex integration testing and commissioning in multi-system, live rail environments

About you

You are a collaborative and delivery-focused leader who thrives in complex environments. You bring:

  • Proven project management experience (5+ years) in rail infrastructure environment
  • Strong understanding of signalling systems, including conventional and ETCS, with the ability to provide strategic oversight and assure safe, reliable, and compliant system delivery
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience delivering technology, infrastructure, or rail-related projects
  • Ability to navigate competing priorities and drive outcomes
  • A commitment to safety, inclusion and continuous improvement
