Job Description

We are partnering with a leading commercial floorcovering solutions provider to identify a Senior Project Manager responsible for driving profitable growth through strategic client relationships, business development, and operational excellence in the Chicago market.

This is a hybrid, client-facing leadership role ideal for a seasoned commercial flooring professional with an established book of business and deep industry relationships. Primary market coverage includes Chicago and the surrounding metropolitan area, with regular interaction with commercial clients, general contractors, property managers, facility owners, and project stakeholders throughout the region.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of project management expertise, business development success, and commercial flooring knowledge. This role offers the opportunity to leverage internal estimating, project management, operations, and installation resources while expanding market share and delivering complex commercial flooring projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and grow an active book of business generating significant annual project revenue
• Develop and expand relationships with commercial clients, general contractors, property managers, and facility owners
• Identify and secure new project opportunities within the commercial floorcovering market
• Lead contract negotiations and pricing strategies to maximize project profitability
• Serve as the primary point of contact for key client relationships and major projects
• Oversee multiple commercial flooring projects simultaneously from award through completion
• Coordinate closely with estimators, project managers, installers, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution
• Review project budgets, schedules, specifications, and profitability metrics throughout the project lifecycle
• Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout requirements
• Conduct project reviews with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes
• Mentor project management team members and support the development of best practices and operational improvements
• Collaborate with estimating teams to improve bidding strategies and project win rates

Ideal Background

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred
• Minimum 8-10 years of commercial flooring project management or related construction industry experience
• Proven track record of business development and revenue generation within commercial flooring markets
• Established network of commercial client relationships within the Chicago market preferred
• Strong understanding of commercial flooring products, installation methods, and industry standards
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, profitability, and risk mitigation initiatives
• Proficiency with project management software, estimating systems, and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong financial acumen and pricing strategy experience
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Ability to lead multiple complex projects while maintaining exceptional client service

Preferred Experience

• PMP, CCM, or related industry certifications
• Existing relationships with major commercial clients throughout the Chicago metropolitan area
• Experience within healthcare, education, government, corporate, or retail flooring environments
• Familiarity with specialized compliance requirements, union environments, or sustainability-focused projects
• Previous experience mentoring and developing project management professionals
