Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for providing overall management direction on large-scale construction projects or multiple projects simultaneously within Michigan. This role leads all aspects of project execution, including safety, financial performance, contract administration, scheduling, and client relationships.
The Senior Project Manager provides leadership, training, and support to project teams and ensures successful delivery of projects aligned with company objectives.
Travel Expectations: This is an onsite, field-based position requiring daily presence at assigned project sites. Travel to other project locations may be required based on assignment, along with occasional travel to Roncelli’s headquarters in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

Role and Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Provide overall leadership and direction for project teams, including Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, Safety, and field staff.
- Oversee all project operations including planning, logistics, execution, and closeout.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements.
- Lead problem resolution efforts and proactively manage project risks.
Client & Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects/engineers, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Support business development efforts, including participation in bids, proposals, and client presentations.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance project margins and future work.
- Maintain regular communication with executive leadership on project performance and opportunities.
Financial & Contract Management
- Oversee all financial aspects of projects to meet or exceed planned margins.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and financial reporting.
- Lead contract administration, including change management and dispute resolution.
- Coordinate with accounting and leadership on financial performance and reporting.
Schedule, Planning & Controls
- Develop and monitor project schedules, phasing plans, and work plans.
- Ensure compliance with project schedules and contract milestones.
- Oversee project documentation, cost controls, and reporting systems.
- Coordinate with field teams to ensure alignment between schedule and execution.
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, scope compliance, and coordination.
- Support estimating in scope development and procurement strategies.
Quality & Safety Leadership
- Establish and oversee Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs.
- Lead development and enforcement of project-specific safety plans.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Development
- Mentor and develop project team members.
- Provide training, support, and performance feedback.
- Promote a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
- Ensure implementation of company policies and procedures.

QualificationsSkills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles, methods, and techniques
- Advanced understanding of project financials, cost control, and reporting.
- Strong scheduling and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to identify risks and implement effective solutions.
- Knowledge of construction technology, equipment, and methodologies.
- Understanding of safety regulations, labor agreements, and trade jurisdictions.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and construction/project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar).
- Understanding of estimating, accounting, and contractual processes.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required; equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive construction experience, including leadership of large or complex projects.
- Certifications: OSHA 30 required; MUST, Certified Storm Water Operator, and First Aid & CPR preferred.
- Screening Requirements: Pre-employment and annual drug testing required; background check, including driving record, as required by client.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Working Environment and Physical Requirements
This is a fully traveling, field-based role requiring continuous presence on active construction sites. Work is performed in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. The employee must be able to walk job sites, climb ladders or stairs, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Periods of prolonged standing, walking, and computer use are required.
