The Team You’ll Work With:
The Mayor’s Office of Child Care and Early Childhood Education (OCCECE) is responsible for delivering on the Mayor’s Universal Child Care priority. This includes setting the Administration’s child care strategy, coordinating work across City agencies to deliver a high-quality early care and education system that is responsive to child care providers and meets family needs, collaborating with a range of partners internal and external to City government, and engaging with the public. The Office serves as a central hub for citywide policy implementation and coordination across more than a dozen agencies, including New York City Public Schools (NYCPS), Administration of Children’s Services (ACS), Department of Health & Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), and Department of Social Services (DSS), and fosters strategic partnerships with all levels of government, private entities, nonprofits, and foundations. The Office works closely with families and providers to ensure their voices are represented in the design and implementation of City policy and programs.

The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Senior Project Manager will report to the Senior Advisor for Policy and Planning.
The Senior Project Manager will lead strategic initiatives to strengthen and expand the child care system across New York City. Working within the Mayor’s Office of Child Care and Early Childhood Education, this role will oversee cross-agency projects, guide long-term strategic planning, and manage the implementation of citywide programs focused on child care access, workforce development, and system infrastructure. The role requires strong project management, policy development, and stakeholder coordination skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead policy research, data analysis, and strategic planning to inform citywide early childhood initiatives.
- Develop policy proposals, strategic frameworks, and implementation plans aligned with mayoral priorities.
- Plan and manage large-scale initiatives, including project plans, timelines, performance metrics, and implementation strategies for child care access, workforce development, and system infrastructure.
- Monitor progress, identify implementation challenges, and recommend policy or operational solutions.
- Coordinate cross-agency initiatives with NYC Department of Education, Administration for Children’s Services, Department of Health, and other key city agency stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration among government agencies, child care providers, nonprofit partners, and community stakeholders.
- Use data and performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and prepare memos, briefings, reports, and presentations for senior leadership.
- Manage external relationships, including with partner organizations, vendors, and child care sector stakeholders
- May supervise project staff, interns, or analysts, supporting team coordination and project execution.

About You:
- You have experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- You have excellent project management skills, including time management, multi-tasking, adherence to deadlines, and organization of logistics.
- You have strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- You have experience working in government, public policy, or nonprofit systems related to family services.
- You are familiar with New York City's early childhood initiatives.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- You have demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively and think creatively.
- You have discretion, sensitivity, and attention to detail.
- You have a commitment to equity and inclusive policy development.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years of experience working with philanthropy, including a proven track record of building senior-level relationships.

Qualifications

1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?

2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?

3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?

4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?
