The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a Senior Project Manager for our Sunderland Fairport Office.

The primary function of the role is to direct, manage, and coordinate the execution and deliverables of high-profile projects for the Sunderland business across the UK & Eurasia in line with company policies, process, and objectives. Ensures efficient control of clients, scope and costs and that deadlines are met consistently in a very high-velocity environment. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the Project Teams and PMO and outline and manage goals and objectives for their team to deliver project requirements as well as report key project KPI’s and metrics.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities


• Act as main point of contact for client.
• Coaching and mentoring project team members.
• Assist with developing and maintaining project management processes.
• Compile and control detailed schedules in MS Project/ P6 or equivalent.
• Daily Management of Project & Engineering teams to enable project delivery.
• Work with financial controller to log, monitor and control budget, forecast in Excel as a live. document for weekly reporting.
• Control & maintain client relationships whilst also exploiting opportunities for growth (VO’s, TQ’s, EWR’s & Schedule).
• Write Project Execution Plan in line with client requirements.
• Drive and internally expedite engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, logistic, site installation, commissioning, and handover to achieve schedule.
• Control project quality, mange team and investigations to help close Q.I’s / non-conformance reports
• Weekly and monthly project reporting KPI’s, metrics & PVA tracking and analysis
• Internal & external presentations to senior management & client
• Control contractual requirements & any variations to scope are captured and communicated to client following internal variation process
• Raise and submit payment applications and follow up on invoicing with client
• Ensure contractual documentation is supplied on time and in full, working with and through the commercial team to maximise opportunity
• Follow project management process and ensure teams understand and are bought in as well as contribute to continuous improvement
• Control departmental deliverables to ensure project remains on target and report up chain if issues are realised
• Coach team members and improve bench strength
• Site safety, control and management as well as punch list/snags items are closed with velocity
• Project signoff & completion to plan (cost, schedule, scope, quality) with lessons learned reported
• Develop and maintain project management processes with the Project Engineering Manager
• Review & close out projects & ensure lesson learnt are captured, briefed and understood by all departments & managers
• Drive Supply Chain team to ensure long lead items are specified and bought to achieve schedule and cost.
• Review bid documentation and contract to prepare and own handover process from proposal to projects – ensuring contractual requirements are fully understood.

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree qualified, in any of the following: Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering
• Project Management qualification (PMP or equivalent)
• Project management experience in a construction environment is essential, preferably in heavy engineering (large lifts and heavy steelwork)
• Effective at planning, monitoring and reviewing.
• Understand engineering drawings and specifications, ideally holding a formal Engineering qualification.
• Confident decision maker.
• Able to manage resources.
• Be decisive and able to work well under pressure at high velocity.
• Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Be able to co-ordinate work carried out by different people / departments and organization.
• Be able to manage and work as part of a team and on their own initiative.
• Be able to control and monitor budgets.
• Strong computer skills including scheduling experience, preferably in MS Project/P6 and MRP experience, preferably SAP.
• Able to travel in the UK and overseas as required (expectation of regular travel).
• Completed the required company induction into this role.
