Job Description

Many of the world’s top engineers and scientists come together in our Water business because they view a community’s interaction with water a bit differently—as a single holistic system, rather than unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. Working throughout the hydrologic cycle, we are delivering sustainable solutions to make sure water is where it should be and available when needed. Our experts guide our work with scientific rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generations. Grow with us, H2O+U.

Your Opportunity

This is a senior client and people-focused growth role, requiring technical expertise, client management, team development, and recruitment, in addition to strategic growth planning and opportunity identification and pursuit.

In this role you will lead and support client management, opportunity identification, and pursuits with municipal clients in Tennessee, with a focus on Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Nashville areas. You will also support efforts in Kentucky and Georgia by engaging with existing Account Managers and leveraging Tennessee based water staff as applicable to resource share across offices/states.

  • Technical design expertise for projects as well as supervision and management of work through junior staff to develop and execute the design
  • Planning and managing projects to ensure deliverables are on time and within budget
  • Monitor staff utilization to ensure team members are working to capacity and meeting targets
  • Work with staff to ensure nonchargeable time is valuable
  • Lead staff recruitment in Tennessee offices, including development of well-rounded and multi-disciplinary teams in the Tennessee offices with the ability to deliver Municipal Water projects (leveraging existing Geotechnical, Industrial and Civil capabilities), as well as key account managers as needed
  • Leading or participating in the recruitment and hiring of new staff including identifying candidates, reviewing resumes, and participating in interviews - Attracting, growing, and retaining quality staff
  • Working with Technical Leads throughout the year to evaluate the performance of training plans and implementation of field standard operating procedures
  • Ensure team members are adhering to quality standards, protocols, and all HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) and Quality requirements within Stantec
  • Support and act as a lead for internal and external systems, projects, and safety audits
  • Provide feedback on work performance
  • Oversee project management development
  • Identify training needs for team members and cross-training with other disciplines
